Tyrone Square is getting a new Mexican restaurant very soon.
Grand Hacienda, with two other locations on 4th St. N and at St. Pete Beach, is set to open at 2424 Tyrone Blvd. N on Wednesday, March 18th.
As of now, the dining room will be open at 50 percent capacity to comply with current City of St. Petersburg mandates, but management is adapting by adding free curbside pick-up and a slate of delivery options, including free delivery for independent restaurants via Uber Eats.
Situated between Bonefish Grill and Jos. A. Bank, the Tyrone outpost will feature the same menu as the other locations and continue to offer the high-quality ingredients and attention to detail enjoyed by regular patrons.
Co-owner Claudia Johnson, originally from Mexico City, exudes a passion for sharing Mexican cuisine and proudly details the thought behind the restaurant’s dishes. “The food utilizes recipes from all over Mexico, not just one state,” she explains. “It really showcases the broadness of the cuisine.”
As with the other Grand Hacienda locations, nearly everything is made in-house. Rice, beans, chips, salsa, and guacamole are made daily, while longer-lasting sauces and margarita mixes are made as needed.
This attention to detail doesn’t stop at the food though. Nearly all decor inside of the restaurant comes directly from different parts of Mexico. Everything from the tile and glassware to light fixtures and paintings is hand-picked by Claudia and her team and shipped to Florida to add to the authenticity of the restaurant.
“With the food and the looks, that’s what we’re trying to bring,” she says.
The Tyrone location will offer a full bar and many of the same specials as the other locations including Kids Eat Free all day on Mondays, $5 small house margaritas and tequila shots on Wednesdays (with bi-weekly Mariachi bands), and some nice happy hour deals on weekdays.
An additional offer of Tyrone Square’s Dinner and a Movie special includes one small house margarita, wine, or draft beer when you present your same-day Cobb Luxury 10 Theater movie ticket.
Ready to check it out for yourself? Grand Hacienda at Tyrone Square will be open 10:00am-9:00pm Monday through Friday and serving brunch on the weekends beginning at 8:00am.
