The first day of school for Pinellas County students is Monday, August 13th. To help you prep for the upcoming school year, we've compiled a list of back-to-school bashes, supply giveaways, health clinics, sales and other events in the St. Petersburg, Florida area. Read on for all of the details.
Dates ending August 8th | 8am-2:45pm
The Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County (DOH-Pinellas) is offering its annual Back to School health clinic services to students, kindergarten through grade 12, to prepare for the 2018-19 school year. Services provided at no cost for clients who have limited income or no health insurance include school/sport physicals, dental services, and vision screenings and will be by appointment only. August 3rd-5th | In Stores & Online
During this sales tax holiday period, qualifying items will be exempt from tax including certain school supplies selling for $15 or less per item and clothing, footwear, and certain accessories selling for $60 or less per item. Get a head start on the school year with packets of free school supplies (while they last), free hair cuts for kids, free school physicals, screenings, face-painting, raffles and giveaways!
Saturday, August 4th | 10am-1pm | SPC Health Education Center, Pinellas Park
Come out for a day of family fun hosted by the Pinellas Park Gateway Chamber of Commerce, Pinellas Park Medical District and the City of Pinellas Park. The event will include free giveaways for children preparing for another year of learning, as well as food and entertainment. Don't forget to stick around for the bike raffle!

Bring the whole family to the City of Largo's Back to School Expo! Free back-to-school giveaways, health screenings, and important school information will be offered on site. BOGO admission for Highland's Playworld, Exerplay and Aquatic Center!
Saturday, August 4th | 12-2pm | Tyrone Square
Tyrone Square is hosting a Back to School Weekend event where area residents are invited to celebrate the new school year in Center Court. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a fashion show, a live DJ, Competitive Edge dance team and see the latest school trends from Tyrone Square retailers. Plus starting Friday, August 3rd there will be weekend long events that will include the St. Petersburg Police Department, St. Petersburg Fire Department, Sunstar Paramedics and the Rowdies Street Team! All weekend long local resident shoppers can also receive a free savings passport by presenting a valid Florida ID at the Mall Management Office during office hours. Sunday, August 5th | 12-6pm | Thomas "Jet" Jackson Recreation Center
Watch as pre-selected teams of children, firefighters, police officers, professional athletes and local celebrities battle it out in a six-inning kickball game with Mayor Rick Kriseman rolling out the first ball. The game is followed by a kids carnival that’s open to the public and includes bounce houses, DJ dancing, free haircuts, little league baseball registration, dance performances, a raffle and more than 100 free backpacks full of school supplies.
Sunday, August 5th | 2-4pm | Kingdom Bible Christian Church, Largo
Does your child currently have an IEP or 504 Plan? Would you like to know more about the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act? Want to know how to move from emotions to advocacy concerning your child with disabilities? Join Miracle 4 Michael for a uniquely designed back-to-school bash just for children with special needs. There will be free food, adaptive Zumba, sensory activities, raffles and giveaways, and backpacks with supplies (while supplies last). Register here.

Join Watermark for Kids for its annual Back-to-School Carnival! Clowns, face painting, lots of games, dunk tank, petting farm, and food make this the perfect way to end summer. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person or $15 for the whole family. Food and game play are included in admission, and all proceeds will go to Watermark for Kids.

It's time to celebrate the start of the school season! This special Back 2 School party will include a dive-in movie, games, kickball slip 'n slide, knocker ball and much more. Bring your family out for this free event!
Saturday, August 11th | 9am-1pm | PAL Lealman Sports Complex
Join the Pinellas Sheriff's Police Athletic League for its annual Back to School Event! There will be inflatable slides, food, eye exams, and backpack and school supply giveaways. Pre-registration here required.

The Police Athletic League of St. Petersburg is hosting a Back-to-School Giveaway that will feature free school supplies, free books, free gently used clothing and shoes, free hair services and haircuts, free food, drug prevention and safety workshops, and community agencies and vendors with giveaways.
