We may not get the cooler weather, but there is still lots to do for families during the fall season in St. Petersburg, Florida. We've rounded up all of the Halloween events for kids happening in south Pinellas including pumpkin patches, trick-or-treating celebrations, haunted houses, costume contests and more! Click the links below for more information and check back frequently as we continue to add more events to our list.


When: Friday, September 28, 6:30pm-8pm

Where: Practically Pikasso

What: Drop off your kids for some creative fun at Practically Pikasso! Kids Night Out includes a Halloween pottery project, Hotel Transylvania movie, pizza and 2.5 hours of supervised fun!

When: September 28; October 5, 12, 19, 26; November 2, 9; 7pm & 8:15pm

Where: St. Petersburg College Planetarium & Observatory

What: The autumn skies are filled with constellations intertwined in Greek myth and lore. Learn some of the stories playing out in the evening sky this fall. If you are in the Halloween spirit, come visit the “Haunted Planetarium." During the month of October, the planetarium will be haunted by ghosts, ghouls, zombies, and other creatures of the night. Minimum suggested age is 7 or 8.

Where: St. Pete Beach Public Library

What: Kids ages 5 to 12 are invited to make a spooky Halloween decoration to take home. Beware the eerie eyes!


When: Saturday, October 6, 9:30am-11pm

Where: Sky Zone, Largo

What: Sky Zone Clearwater is throwing an amazing toddler party! There will be mystery characters, a character parade and play, costume contest, dance party, glow and more.

Where: The Posh Tot, Seminole

What: Bring the kids into The Posh Tot for a Halloween mini photo session with Light of the Moon Photography. Appointments are available from 10am until 2pm each day.

When: Saturday, October 6, 11am-4pm

Where: GFWC St. Petersburg Junior Woman's Club

What: This great family festival is fun for all! The 15th Annual Pumpkin Palooza is open to the public and features kid’s inflatables, petting zoo, games, prizes, a pumpkin patch, pumpkin decorating, crafts, face and hair painting, opportunity baskets, vendors and much more. It is well attended and has become a highly anticipated community event!

Want to go? Bring goods for the canned food drive to exchange for free tickets! Tickets will also be sold for snacks, drinks, games and pumpkins.

What: Enjoy a free outdoor Halloween movie at Intermezzo Coffee & Cocktails courtesy of Cinema Squatch Outdoor Movies and Sunscreen Film Festival. More details to come.

Where: Pinellas Pioneer Settlement

What: Haunted Heritage Hikes are a quiet retreat into the woods at Pinellas Pioneer Settlement. Weave your way through as you experience stories of hauntings in St. Petersburg and its surrounding areas. The hike will visit many of the buildings on the grounds, ending by a campfire to enjoy more tales.

Where: makeme

What: Join makeme for a family art night! Choose a pre-sketched halloween design to paint alongside your loved ones. Admission price reflects two participants (both parent and child ages 4 & up create their own artwork) and is a great bargain! A great way to MAKE memories!

Where: Pinellas Pioneer Settlement

What: Celebrate the tradition of gathering harvest and giving thanks at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve’s annual Autumn Harvest Festival! The pie-eating contest begins at 12:30pm. Other activities include hayrides, games, crafts, and pumpkins.

Where: Practically Pikasso

What: Listen to a fun Halloween story then choose from an assortment of Halloween themed pottery to paint! Perfect for pint size painters and their parents.

Where: Highland Recreation Complex, Largo

What: Enjoy games, food and crafts during this fun-filled fall event! Visit with the scarecrow and come dressed in costume for a trick-or-treat parade. For children ages 6 and under.

What: Enjoy a free outdoor Halloween movie at Historic Williams Park courtesy of Cinema Squatch Outdoor Movies and Sunscreen Film Festival. More details to come.

Where: The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay

What: Halloween can bring out the child in all of us! Join Sunshine City Kids with your children as we trick-or-treat with our senior friends at The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay. Since this date is a Pinellas County Schools holiday, kids of all ages and their parents are invited to dress in costume and trick-or-treat for goodies while the residents hand out candy and share in the fun.

Where: Sacred Heart Parish, Pinellas Park

What: The Sacred Heart Fall Festival is a popular annual family event that offers an affordable, safe, and wholesome environment for adults and children of all ages featuring rides by the world-famous Arnold Amusements, games, food and drinks, and live entertainment on three stages.

Where: Treasure Island Fun Center

What: Join Treasure Island Fun Center for a night of scary good family fun featuring $3 all-you-can-play video games, air hockey, and kiddie rides! There will also be 2 $500 play card giveaways, $1 pizza slices, $1 sodas, $1 nuggets, and a costume contest for kids 12 & under.

Where: Shore Acres Elementary School

What: Come out to Shore Acres Elementary for the annual Trunk or Treat! This event is open to the school and the community. Kids can wear their costumes and trunk or treat from car to car. There will be an inflatable maze, basketball hoops, and a giant rock wall for the kids to enjoy plus a DJ, pizza for sale, and a pumpkin silent auction.

Where: St. Petersburg Municipal Beach at Treasure Island

What: St. Petersburg Parks & Recreation's Aquatics Division is hosting a movie night at the beach featuring "Hocus Pocus". Enjoy fun in the sand with your friends and family at the St. Petersburg Municipal Treasure Island Beach on Friday, October 19 at 6 p.m. Movie starts at dark. Want to go? Admission is free. Where: Boyd Hill Nature Preserve's Environmental Studies Area

What: Get ready for a spooktacular, fun, family-friendly Halloween event! Howl-O-Fest features inflatable games, temporary tattoos, carnival games, arts & crafts, trick-or-treat cabins (bags provided), free candy, and a character meet-and-greet.

Want to go? The entry fee is $5. Other activities may require a fee as well.


When: Saturday, October 20, 8am-1pm

Where: 1617 49th St. S, Gulfport

What: Gulfport residents are invited to swap, trash or give away their old stuff at the community "Junk in the Trunk or on a Truck" (JITT). Have Coffee with a cop, register your bike and get a free helmet for kids. Get gardening tips from the folks with Gulfport's Community Garden. There will also be a kids Halloween costume contest (ages 10 & under), Halloween games and crafts, and music.

Where: We Rock the Spectrum, Largo

What: Put on your costumes and join We Rock the Spectrum for games, crafts, treats and fun! As always, We Rock the Spectrum welcomes friends with all abilities to join.

What: Spend your afternoon creating family-friendly crafts at makeme's family craft sessions.  Bring your little ones and spend your Saturday creating some fun fall-inspired wood sculptures!  Choose from Mr. or Mrs. Frankenstein, a silly scarecrow, witch - or create a sculpture of your own design.  Admission includes materials for both parent and child to make their own piece.

Where: Riviera United Methodist Church

What: Join Riviera UMC for the annual Pumpkin Fest! There will be FREE fun for the whole family including a bounce house, petting zoo, face painting, emergency vehicles, bake sale, Cuba Cafe and lots of games and fun! Stop by the pumpkin patch to purchase a pumpkin and enjoy the music.

Where: St. Luke's United Methodist Church

What: St Luke's United Methodist Church and Central Oak Park Neighborhood Association are collaborating to bring you this year's Fall Harvest Festival. Tons of kid's crafts, face painting, indie market, music and MNM BBQ food truck. Come out and support your community!

Where: Mastry's Brewing Co, St. Pete Beach

What: Grab the whole family and come dressed up- Mastry's Night Market is the perfect Halloween event for the whole family to enjoy! With 10-15 rotating vendors, this intimate boutique market offers finds for all walks of life plus a food truck and music.

Where: Euclid St. Paul's Neighborhood

What: Join Euclid St. Paul’s Neighborhood for its annual Haunted Hike! This family-friendly event is a one-mile, one-hour walking tour through creepy alleys and brick-lined streets. Costumed characters will entertain with spooky stories and skits. Guided tours take place every 15 minutes.

When: Sunday, October 21, 2:30pm-4:30pm

Where: Practically Pikasso

What: Join Practically Pikasso for a frightfully good time! Costumes are welcome and snacks are included. Mom can paint a salad plate while kids can choose from assorted monster pottery. Dads are welcome, too!

When: Wednesday, October 24, 6:30pm

Where: Museum of Fine Arts

What: Put on your best zombie face and join the MFA for its first annual Zombie Thriller Dance. Ghouls and zombies of all ages and dancing abilities are invited to take over the front steps of the museum for a fiendishly good time strutting your stuff to the famous Michael Jackson Thriller dance. Performance times are 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00 —don’t be late!

Want to join? Rehearsals, led by St. Pete Zombie Jesse Miller, begin September 13th at the MFA and will be held every Thursday evening from 6-7:30pm.


When: Wednesday, October 24, 5:30pm-7:30pm

Where: Faith Community Church, Seminole

What: Everyone is invited to the Faith Harvest Celebration with Trunk or Treat! Trunk or Treat will allow children to trick or treat in a unique way, in costume. Vehicles provided by individuals, couples, families or local businesses will be strategically placed within the lot of Faith Community Church for a trick-or-treat line. Additional activities like bounce houses, face painting, pony rides, petting zoo, free food and fellowship will round out the festival to assure a memorable time full of laughter and fun.

What: Come trick-or-treating in the St. Pete Beach Community Center parking lot from the trunks of cars to get in the Halloween spirit.

Where: North Straub Park

What: Wear your costumes to the final October 2018 Preserve the 'Burg Movies in the Park at North Straub Park! Music by King Complex begins at 6pm. Hocus Pocus begins at dusk. Food and drinks can be purchased from a variety of vendors, but you're welcome to bring your own picnic.

Where: Allendale United Methodist Church

What: Join the fun in the parking lot of Allendale UMC. There will be plenty of decorated trunks and treats for all trick-or-treaters!

Where: Jim & Heather Gills YMCA

What: Boo Bash is a free family fun event featuring a moon bounce, trick-or-treating, face painting, snacks, treats and arts + crafts. The event will be held at both the Jim & Heather Gills YMCA and Bardmoor YMCA.

When: Friday, October 26, 6pm-8pm

Where: Grace Lutheran Church & School

What: Join Grace Lutheran Church & School for a spooktacular Trunk or Treat! Wristbands are available for $20/person and include unlimited games, a meal, face painting and balloon art. Additional wristbands are $15.

Where: City of Seminole Recreation Department

What: Hosted by the City of Seminole Recreation Division, this family-friendly event includes trick-or-treating, costume contests, photo zones, and $5 unlimited admission to all bounce house inflatables.

Where: Boyd Hill Environmental Studies Area

What: TASCO’s 13th Annual Field of Screams: Quarantine will have you fleeing for safety as you make your way through the village in the woods, trying to break out of the decontamination tent and escape the safe house hoping to find safety. Are you up for the challenge to face your fears? Event is not suitable for young children; parental discretion advised.

Where: Great Explorations Children's Museum

What: Join Great Explorations on October 27th for Great Eeks-ploration, a day of fun, safe, and slightly spooky science and art. Guest can join our Education team for Critter Shows, experiment with smoke ring science, and play with polymer worm-goo. This spooky, slimy day will be the perfect amount of fun and fright for children of all ages!

What: Push, pull or carry your furry friend in the most spook-tacular PAWrade of the year! Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. There will also be pet adoptions, games, food, pet-related vendors, training tips, demos, give-a-ways and more!

Where: Largo Central Park

What: Join the City of Largo as they partner with Escape FLA for a one-of-a-kind, Halloween-themed escape game event at Largo Central Park. Travel through the park discovering clues, taking on challenges and solving a special Halloween mystery.

Where: Largo Central Park

What: This widely popular, family-friendly event includes fun and games for kids 12 and under. Enjoy a trick-or-treat trail (12-4pm only), inflatables, a hay maze, games, music, activities and much more. Bounce houses, a petting zoo and strolling entertainment are just a few of the activities that make this a great event for the whole family.

What: Head to the John's Pass Seafood and Music Festival for the 37th annual Halloween Trick-or-Treating and Costume Contest Event! Find the orange pumpkin hanging in the window of select retailers who will be handing out treats to children ages 12 and under. Stop by WindWorks and register for the Costume Contest! Costume Contest starts at 3pm.

What: Ghosts and goblins, ghouls and boys. grab your trick-or-treat bags and join the Historic Uptown Neighborhood Association for the Second Annual HUNA Trick or Treat Trail! The spooktacular evening begins at 5pm at Round Lake Park where little trick-or-treaters are invited to make their way around the lake, stopping along the way for candy, treats, and fun activities including mini pumpkin painting.

Where: Fire Station #7 (Fossil Park)

What: Visit Haunted Fire Station #7 if you dare! The firehouse will be ghosts, spirits and creatures of the night. There will also be raffle prizes, games, hay rides and lots more! Keep in mind that this may be too scary for younger kids.

Where: Florida Botanical Gardens, Largo

What: Get ready for Halloween and come carve a pumpkin at the Florida Botanical Gardens! Templates and kid-friendly carving tools will be available for use. Children are encouraged to come in costume.

What: Join 3 Daughters Brewing for a Pumpkin Painting Party to help celebrate Trusting the Process turning two years old! Trusting the Process is a local nonprofit that provides haircuts, clothing, and hygiene products to our houseless, low-income and at-risk communities in Pinellas County. There will be live bands, pumpkin painting, fall games, 3 Daughters food truck, photobooths, and over 25 amazing raffles and silent auctions! All ticket purchases will include pumpkin, paint, paint brushes, and a free drink of your choice from 3 Daughters

What: Join Seminole First Baptist Church for their annual Trunk or Treat! There will be bounce houses, lots of candy, hot dogs, chips and drinks!

What: Come join the St. Anne of Grace family for the 5th Annual Trunk or Treat! There will be music, Halloween treats and plenty of candy to go around. The youth group will be awarding prizes for the best decorated trunk.

What: Join Baby Boot Camp St. Pete for a FREE Baby BOO Camp Special Class! Everyone can come in costume and there will be a great workout followed by a costume contest and stroller trick-or-treating for the kiddos. All are welcome for this free pop-up class!

Where: Great Explorations Children's Museum

What: Children ages 5 and under are invited to join Great Explorations for a morning of Halloween celebration. Kids can Trick-or-Treat and participate in holiday art and science tables stationed around the museum starting at 10am (early 9:30am start time for members). Stay for a dance party after and show off your costumes in a Halloween Parade at 11:30am.

Where: Pinellas Community Church

What: Join Pinellas Community Church for a safe and fun family alternative at Fall Fest. Kids up to 5th grade will experience free carnival rides including a 50' Ferris wheel, free 40 car trunk-or-treat with 40,000 pieces of candy, free Tampa Bay Rays gear, a chance to meet DJ Kitty and Raymond from the Rays, and so much more!

What: The City of Gulfport Recreation Division presents the 2018 Spooktacular Halloween Bash featuring a DJ, Trunk-or-Treat, Boo Room for Tots, Out of this World Haunted House, Haunted Snack Shack and costume contest!

What: Listen to a fun Thanksgiving story then choose from a turkey figurine or a salad plate for handprint turkey fun - or paint both!! Perfect for pint size painters and their parents.

Want to go? Cost is $15 per painter when you register in advance or $18 at the door.

Where: North Shore Elementary School

What; North Shore Elementary PTA is hosting the Coffee Pot Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning! This family-friendly run is open to the community and celebrates the neighborhood school and its healthy school initiative. The selected route highlights some of the wonderful neighborhoods that make up part of the school zone including Northeast Park, Snell Isle and Old Northeast.
