ZooTampa at Lowry Park rolled out the red carpet for an exclusive sneak peak of its newest family-friendly water ride, Roaring Springs presented by Pinch A Penny. Step back into vintage Florida with highlights from the day and see what to expect when you visit.
ZooTampa at Lowry Park is bringing back old Florida style. The Tampa Bay attraction hosted a morning of food, fun, and friendly faces where media and special guests got to experience Roaring Springs, a three-story splashdown set in a quaint village full of old-school Florida charm.
Upon arrival to Roaring Springs, guests were greeted by fancy avian entertainers, then treated to tasty samplings from Joe's Diner, a retro restaurant that will be serving up Florida favorites like fish tacos, conch fritters, frozen rum drinks and key lime pie.
Beyond the local diner, the town is also home to a Country Store, little red schoolhouse, cute wooden bungalow and water tower which together create a fun play area for the kids.
The celebration continued in this play area with visits from ZooTampa's famous animal ambassadors. A sloth, anteater, prehensile-tailed porcupine, parrot, serval and snakes were a few of the surprises appearing throughout the morning.
Did I mention the sloth? His name is Lorenzo. Do you know how hard it is to not squeeze Lorenzo?
We overcame our urge to hug the sloth and enjoyed a few more stops around the town. Huge bubbles, live music and the ever adorable Posie's Flower Truck rounded out the down-home entertainment for the day.
While the party was really fun, we came for the main attraction. Roaring Springs.
My six-year-old has been following the construction and counting down the days until he could ride.
He was not disappointed.
Roaring Springs starts with a slow climb up a three-story hill and follows a crystal-clear spring to the edge of the drop. A quick pause sends you plummeting to the waiting pool below.
SPLASH! No rider is spared. You're going to get SOAKED.
And it's totally worth it on these hot, summer days.
For those of you who want to cool off without the ride, the Splash Zone located atop Lookout Landing is the place to be.
You're going to get soaked here, too.
Roaring Springs is the perfect refreshing escape for the entire family.
Ready to ride yet?
Zoo members can get early access to Roaring Springs beginning Thursday, June 7th. Opening day for the public is Saturday, June 9th. Access to the ride is included with admission or membership.
Just don't forget your swimsuits.
