Summer break is just around the corner, and the time for finding and booking summer camps is now. The St. Petersburg area has plenty to offer by way of day camps including STEM, arts, sports, outdoor, and more options. Register now to take advantage of the many early registration discounts and secure your kid's shot at making marvelous summer memories. Here's a look at some of the best camps around the 'Burg. Campers explore the fascinating world of amphibians and reptiles through up close encounters with a variety of animals, such as gopher tortoises, frogs, lizards, and snakes. Campers learn about ecology and conservation of amphibians and reptiles.

Campers learn about Florida's unique habitats and their inhabitants, get dirty during dip netting, observe wildlife while hiking preserve trails, and acquire basic birding skills. Designed with new themes and guest programs throughout the summer, every day includes relevant natural history topics and ex-citing adventures, crafts and activities. Different field trip destinations will be offered on Thursdays.

Enter the world of raptors! Campers have up close encounters with live birds of prey including owls, hawks, vultures, and a bald eagle. Learn the important role these apex predators play in the environment as well as how to care for and train them.

Kids grow better outside! Join Boyd Hill Nature Preserve for Sprouts Camp, a week filled with songs, stories games, and nature walks! Each week is a different theme with habitat investigations and activities that will demonstrate environmental concepts. Children must be potty trained. Limit of 15 campers per week.

Campers will explore the ecology and conservation of Florida's wildlife and wild lands. A blend of classroom and field sessions will include hands on activities, guest presentations, and exploration of the preserve's diverse habitats where campers will practice their observation skills.

This camp is filled with a variety of exciting activities including nature hikes, games, animal and plant studies, crafts, and wildlife watching. The goal is for campers to explore and learn about their natural world, encourage personal creativity, and learn to share discoveries by working together and having fun. Themes will change weekly. Different field trip destinations will be offered on Thursday each week throughout the summer. Limit of 20 campers each week.

Creative Clay’s 10th Art Around the World inclusionary summer camp, for children ages six through 12 of all abilities opens registration in February of 2018! In Summer 2018 campers will be studying the countries of Kenya, Norway, Lebanon, and South Korea. Class size is limited to 12 students with a professional teaching artist and two teaching assistants.

The Eckerd College Waterfront Program, one of the largest collegiate programs in the U. S., offers instruction in Little Mariners Watersports, Exploring Watersports, Sailing, Wakeboarding, Windsurfing, Paddlesports, Kayaking, Saltwater Fishing, Children’s Marine Discovery and Exploring Marine Life for students of various ages at various levels. The First Tee of St. Petersburg's Summer Junior Golf Program is coordinated by a PGA Professional Instructor and employs the First Tee Life Skills Curriculum and Certification. Camps emphasize fun, sportsmanship, and fundamentals of the game and feature Junior Championship tournaments and awards. Golf equipment and instructional materials are provided. Choose from full day week-long camps, half day week-long camps, or tournament programs.

Become a Junior Docent at The Dali Museum’s week-long camp, where campers discover new ways to interpret and create art, meet new friends, and have fun. This year, campers will learn how Salvador Dali and other Surrealist artists used the power of their dreams to build imaginary landscapes, or dreamscapes. Campers will learn the fundamentals of landscape drawing and composition along with surrealist techniques to create their own dreamscapes. In addition, campers will have the opportunity to explore the idea of dreamscapes through various media, including writing and photography.

Come learn about creativity in a fun week-long writing camp with Keep St. Pete Lit teachers! All students will explore storytelling through play, art, writing, and zine-making in a welcoming environment. Students will also be invited to participate in a final camp reading! Using the Museum’s resources, campers will learn about the history of St. Petersburg, architecture, preservation, and government to determine what it takes to make a great city. Topics such as transportation, sports, tourism and recreation will be covered. By the end of the week, they will have taken field trips, gone on scavenger hunts, and created their own vision of a city using cardboard boxes and a giant map of St. Pete.

St. Petersburg Police Athletic League will be offering summer camp for ages 5+ that includes math and reading curriculum in the morning, lunch and snacks, and recreation and sports. USF Soccer is coming to St. Pete with a Full Day Camp on the Tampa Bay Rowdies’ beautiful practice field in downtown St. Petersburg! This new camp is capped at 60 players. At USF Full Day Camp, participants work daily to improve every player’s technical abilities during this critical period in their soccer development.  Camp is suitable for everyone from beginners to elite players, and is also perfect for teams.  Our experienced staff designs intense, fun training sessions based on daily themes including dribbling, passing & receiving, finishing, possession, and more.  In the afternoons, campers will be coached tactically in game situations and will compete for the camp championship on Friday’s exciting playoff day!


USF St. Petersburg

Vertical Ventures Summer Camp programs will give children the skills and confidence to scale walls up to 40' high with ease.  More experienced climbers will learn the skills it takes to tackle some of the more difficult climbs.  Participants will learn the fundamentals of climbing movement, equipment and safety. Experienced and supportive staff emphasize personal responsibility and encourage each camper to develop greater self confidence throughout the session. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced level climbers are welcome.
