Find beautiful locations for holiday family photos in St. Petersburg, Florida.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year… to snag those perfect family portraits where even, if just for a brief moment, you and your family get to look like you have it all together, smiles in sequence, and make that picture-perfect holiday card that will soon cover the refrigerators and walls of your loved ones. One of the best parts about living in a city as scenic as St. Pete is the wide array of picturesque places you can capture frameworthy family photos without driving far.
Whether you’re a DIY kind of parent or hiring a photographer, here are some great spots to get those little moments captured just right.
Parks and Preserves
The Trust for Public Land recently ranked the City of St. Petersburg number one in Florida in this year's ParkScore rating. Why not take advantage of all of that natural beauty in your next holiday photos? Some of our favorites include North Straub Park and the downtown waterfront, Sawgrass Lake Park, Abercrombie Park and Weedon Island Preserve.
Murals
This should come as no surprise to anyone, but St. Pete murals are such a fun backdrop for any type of picture, especially a family portrait. You can easily find these pieces of public art during a casual drive through downtown or by checking out this mural map to plan ahead. Pick the mural that holds special meaning or the one that coordinates with your family's matching outfits. There's no shortage to choose from-- just be sure to credit the artists when sharing or get permission if using commercially.
Historic Sites and Neighborhoods
Churches, landmarks, hotels, cool old buildings and neighborhoods-- St. Pete offers endless scenic options in this historically delightful big little city. Grab your crew and head to Sunken Gardens for some festive florals or to Station House to stay on trend. Take a walk through Old Northeast and it's brick-paved streets for a classic setting. We're big fans of the exquisite backdrop provided by Historic Roser Park.
Museums
Luckily for us locals, St. Petersburg is home to many world-class museums. From The Dali and The Museum of Fine Arts to the newer James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art, these big beauties and their surrounding landscapes offer up some prime photo real estate.
Banyan Trees
St. Pete is peppered in these incredibly beautiful, whimsical trees throughout downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. You can find them along North Straub Park and in neighborhoods like Historic Uptown, Crescent Lake and many others. They are the perfect backdrop to give your family picture that earthy feel it’s been missing.
Regardless of where you choose to snap that pic, St. Petersburg as a background will not disappoint. From modern moods to more natural settings, there’s a place for every family to feel like that spot was made just for you.
