A list of family-friendly events in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Another wonderful weekend is here, and there are so many great things to do in and around St. Petersburg. Click the links below for more info on some of the best kid-friendly events and activities happening August 2-4.

Friday, August 2nd


Open Gym at Bayside Sports Academy

Open Gym is open to children ages 6 & under every Friday. $8/child. 9:00-11:00am.


Itty Bitty Splashtime at Highland Family Aquatic Center

Enjoy companionship of other parents and caregivers while children play together in a safe aquatic environment. Mom’s clubs are welcome. Children not potty trained must wear a vinyl swim diaper under their bathing suit. Vinyl diapers are available for sale at the facility. $1.50/child. 9:45-10:45am.


Music & Motion at St. Petersburg Main Library

Join the library for literacy programs featuring dance and music for children ages 1-5 with their caregivers. 10:15am and 11:00am.


Preschool Story Time at Gulf Beaches Public Library

Join Gulf Beaches Public Library for songs, stories, and crafts with an "Letter E" theme. 10:30am.


A Universe of Stories at Childs Park Recreation Center

Students entering grades K-2 can explore the universe with stories, participation activities, music, games, and crafts. 2:00-3:00pm.


Calling all builders ages 6 to 12! Use a variety of building supplies to help the Angry Birds knock down the pigs. 2:00-3:00pm.


Explore rocket aerodynamics, thrust, motion and trajectory to see what it took to get to the moon, and investigate the moon and its phases & eclipses. Head out into the solar system to survey our planets, and as we travel out farther to discover how to create artificial gravity, our voyages get longer - WAY longer! This free program is for children of all ages and their caregivers. 4:00-5:00pm.


Kid's Night Out at Romp N Roll

Treat your kids ages 2 to 5 and yourself to a fun night out! Parents get an evening to themselves while the children get to run, play, dance, and have fun with energetic instructors. A pizza party dinner and bubble dance party are included. Children do not need to be potty-trained. $25/member, $30/non-member (sibling discount available). 6:00-9:00pm.


Flick & Float at McLin Pool

Flick & Float Movie Night at the Pool is back with new movie nights, happening every Friday starting June 7th. The event is hosted by the City of St. Petersburg's Aquatics Division. "Kung Fu Panda" is on the big screen this week. $2/ages 3-12, $3/ages 13 & up. 7:00-10:00pm.


Friday Night Shuffle at St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club

Friday nights are free and open to the public at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club! Bring your own food and beverages and enjoy the courts. 7:00-10:00pm.


Saturday, August 3rd


Look for birds on a guided hike led by knowledgeable birders. Binoculars are available for loan. Cost is free for all ages. 8:00am.

The Kiwanis Club of Seminole Breakfast is the sole host of this event. Poles and bait are provided, in addition to photos of those catching a fish. Prizes are awarded for first, smallest, most, largest, second largest and third largest fish caught which are released back into the lake. This event is FREE. 8:00-11:00am.


Member Mornings at Great Explorations Children's Museum

On Saturday mornings in June and July, Great Ex opens their doors an hour early for Members only! Enjoy this quiet time on the museum floor as their way of saying thank you for being members and supporting the museum all year long. 9:00-10:00am.


Take school work to another galaxy in this free hands-on workshop where you and your child can build a rocket pencil box. Your young aerospace engineer can study the anatomy of a rocket while you construct a handmade case together. Once your rocket pencil box is built, your child can decorate it with paint and stickers. 9:00am-12:00pm.


Saturday Morning Market at Williams Park

Join the Saturday Morning Market for the Williams Park Summer Market! There will be live music and vendors with fresh produce, read-to-eat foods, drinks, crafts, art, and more! This event will run every Saturday from June 1st until August 31st. 9:00am-1:00pm.


Jump with the Pups at Sky Zone

Come meet, greet, and jump with the Paw Patrol pups! Tickets are $18 per child with free accompanying adults. 9:30-11:00am.


The Kidding Around Yoga system utilizes the yoga poses or asanas creatively tucked into partner yoga, games and activities, original music, stories and more.  The class is specifically designed for kids – families welcome (ages 3 & up). $5 per person includes admission to the MFA Collection galleries. 10:00-11:00am.


Open Tree Climb at Pathfinder Outdoor Education

Pathfinder's trained facilitators take you through a brief ground school and then you can climb at your own pace into the canopy of a gorgeous live oak. Anyone ages 6 and up can climb - it's not just for kids! And it's FREE for every climber. 10:00am-2:00pm.


Largo Central Railroad at Largo Central Park

Join Largo Central Railroad for a ride around beautiful Largo Central Park on a miniature railroad.  The accurately modeled scale locomotives pull you and your family along a mile long loop through great scenery, the spooky tunnel and waterfall pond.  Fun for all ages! 10:00am-4:00pm.


Curious Corvids at Weedon Island Preserve

Crows, ravens, magpies, rooks and jays all belong to the scientific family Corvidae. Members of this family are known as corvids and are among some of the most intelligent birds in the world. Corvids have been documented as using and modifying tools, teaching one another new things, playing tricks, planning ahead and solving puzzles! Learn more about these curious corvids and their remarkable behaviors at this interactive presentation where we will also get to meet a live fish crow (Corvus ossifragus). Recommended for adults and youth over 7 years of age. 10:30-11:30am.

Little Surrealists Tour at The Dali Museum

Kids ages 4-11 are invited to bring their families on a special 1-hour Museum tour. Free with museum admission. 11:00am-12:00pm.


Magic & Mayhem Present: The Moon Bunny at St. Pete Beach Public Library

Reward yourself for reading this summer with this fun, interactive program that takes its inspiration from world folklore of a magical bunny in the moon. At the conclusion, all participants can meet ChaChing, the Amazing Bunny! 11:00am-12:00pm.


Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Join Barnes & Noble for a storytime and activities featuring "The Pigeon HAS to Go to School." 11:00am-12:00pm.


Make & Take at the MFA

Create your own masterpiece inspired by works in the collection and special exhibitions. Supplies are included. Free with museum admission. Recommended for ages 5 & up. 11:00am-2:00pm.


Pioneer Open House at Pinellas Pioneer Settlement

Step back in time for a relaxing afternoon with family and friends. The tour of buildings begins at 11:30am. Free for all ages. 11:00am-2:00pm.


Children ages 4-11 can discover the creative world of Dali through games, puzzles and arts + crafts activities which educate and encourage family interaction. Cost is free. 12:00-2:30pm.


Creature Feature at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Live animal encounter! Learn interesting facts about a program animal featured at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve every Saturday and Sunday. 2:00pm.


Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field

See the Rays take on the Marlins at home. All fans get a DJ Kitty mini speaker (while supplies last). 6:10pm.


Sunday, August 4th

Sensory Sensitive Sunday at Chuck E. Cheese's

Chuck E. Cheese's offers a sensory-friendly experience on the first Sunday of every month, opening stores two hours before normal opening time. Sensory Sensory events include a trained and caring staff that work to ensure each guest has a fun-filled visit. 9:00-11:00am.

Kidding Around Yoga Classes with Desiree utilize yoga poses creatively tucked into partner yoga, games and activities, original music, stories and more. This yoga class is specifically designed for kids (2 and older), but moms, dads, grandparents and other caregivers are welcome! Donations accepted. 10:00-11:00am.


Corey Avenue Sunday Market at St. Pete Beach

Find this market located on Corey Avenue in St. Pete Beach. This market hosts 70+ local vendors selling local and conventional produce, plants, herbs, raw honey, take home foods, artisan products, fresh baked goods, lunch bites, local art, hand crafts and more! Fun for all ages and dog-friendly. 10:00am-2:00pm.


Bird of Prey Talk at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Join Boyd Hill for a 30 minute bird of prey show every Sunday! Get an up close look at a beautiful avian ambassador and learn how you can help birds of prey. Included with preserve admission. 10:00am.


Great Messploration at Great Explorations Children's Museum

Messploration returns on Sunday, August 4th with a drip and drop! Explore messy art and science and let us clean up. Guests will have the opportunity to create squirt gun paintings, sensory fun shaving cream works of art, tie-dye shirts for the kids and so much more! The event cost is $5 for members and $15 for the general public and includes admission to the museum for the day. 10:00am-12:00pm.


Baby & Me Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Introducing Barnes & Noble's new Baby & Me Storytime for caregivers and children 0-24 months old. Join in to read a book and participate in activities featuring sensory growth for your little ones. Plus, get a free Starbucks tall, hot or iced coffee (Café stores only). 11:00am.


Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field

Every Sunday home game is Rays Family Fun Day at Tropicana Field! This Sunday, the Rays play the Marlins, and every kid in attendance under age 14 will get a Rays backpack (while supplies last). 1:10pm.


Creature Feature at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Live animal encounter! Learn interesting facts about a program animal featured at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve every Saturday and Sunday. 2:00pm.


SPARK Lab: Roller Coaster Engineer at St. Petersburg Main Library

Engineer a marble roller coaster! For children grades 3 - 5. 2:30-3:30pm.


Reading All #Summer19 at cultured books

Beat the summer slide by joining cultured books for their #Summer19 Book Club! The whole family is encouraged to participate. The bookstore has chosen 3 great summertime adventures. If you're little one isn't at an independent reading level, no problem -- all three selections are fun and engaging for reading aloud. 3:00-4:00pm.
