A list of kid-friendly events in St. Petersburg, Florida.

KSPL's Localtopia returns to Williams Park this Saturday, Feb. 22.

This weekend, let the good times roll with a Mardi Gras celebration in Historic Uptown, Localtopia at Williams Park, family-friendly arts and crafts, and lots more. Read on for the details on these events, plus other picks for what to do this February weekend with kids in the Sunshine City.


Friday, February 21st


Open Gym at Bayside Sports Academy

Open Gym is open to children ages 6 & under every Friday. $8/child. 9:00-11:00am.


Toddler Time at Sky Zone

Join Sky Zone every Wednesday and Friday for Toddler Time for $10 per child with free accompanying adults. 9:30-11:00am.


Babytime at Gulfport Public Library

If you have little ones under 2 years old, please join Gulfport Public Library for Babytime. There will be songs, books, lap bounce rhymes, and the opportunity to meet other caregivers with infants and young toddlers. Older siblings are also welcome. 10:00-10:30am.


Toddler Early Literacy Program at St. Petersburg Main Library

Come join the main library for storytime featuring movement, music, and fun with rhymes, stories, and puppets! For children ages 1 - 3 with a caregiver. 10:15am & 11:00am.


Preschool Story Time at Gulf Beaches Public Library

Join Gulf Beaches Public Library for a hugs and kisses story time! Participants will be making hugs and kisses wreaths. 10:30am.


St. Pete Super Greek Festival at St. Stefanos Greek Orthodox Church

St. Stefanos' Super Greek Festival is a joyous, family-friendly, authentic celebration of Greek Food, Culture, Dance and Traditions! At this festival, all our welcome with open arms, and there is truly something for everyone to enjoy and celebrate. Come dine, dance and party! 11:00am-10:00pm.


After School Adventures at Barbara S. Ponce Library

Join Barbara S. Ponce Library after school for fun and exciting drop-in activities. Get hands-on and explore and learn by making art, playing games, doing science experiments, building fantastic creations, and investigating new worlds through books! Grades K & up. 3:30-4:30pm.


S.T.R.E.A.M. Club at Childs Park Library

Explore Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math at Childs Park Library's S.T.R.E.A.M. Club. Join in for hands-on science experiments, coding, stories, and more!For children grades 3 - 5. 4:15-5:00pm.


Crafty Kids at Seminole Community Library

There is always something new going on at Crafty Kids. Whether it's crafts, science experiments, cooking, games, or stories, kids always have fun and make new friends. Minimum of 6 kids required for the program to take place. Registration required. 4:30-5:30pm.


Kid's Night Out at Romp N Roll

Treat your kids ages 2 to 5 and yourself to a fun night out! Parents get an evening to themselves while the children get to run, play, dance, and have fun with energetic instructors. A pizza party dinner and bubble dance party are included. Children do not need to be potty-trained. $25/member, $30/non-member (sibling discount available). 6:00-9:00pm.


Does your teen like to build and are they looking for a safe, fun place to hang out with other teens? This event is for them! They will learn basic circuitry skills such as wire connections, soldering, and also hot gluing. They will use their newly-built table (which they will take home) to make a beautiful piece of art. Pizza provided. $35/person. 6:30-9:00pm.


Friday Night Shuffle at St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club

Friday nights are free and open to the public at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club! Bring your own food and beverages and enjoy the courts. 7:00-10:00pm.


Winter Skies at SPC Planetarium and Observatory

The cool winter nights offer some of the best stargazing of the year, with the great hunter Orion dominating the evening sky. Stop by and view the Great Orion Nebula, the Pleiades star cluster, and brilliant Venus with SPC's rooftop telescopes. Children ages 5 & up are welcome to attend the planetarium show. 7:00pm & 8:15pm.


Saturday, February 22nd


The FUNdamentals at Azalea Recreation Center

St. Petersburg Parks & Recreation's Therapeutic Recreation Division and Healthy St. Pete present The FUNdamentals. This free and fun family program will help participants develop the Fundamental Movement Skills needed for lifelong physical activity. This unique program is specially designed for children and their families to learn these very important skills in a supportive, non-judgmental, and fun environment. 9:00-10:00am.


Weedon Walkabout at Weedon Island Preserve

Join Weedon Island for a guided hike through the mangrove and upland ecosystems of Weedon Island Preserve. Learn about the coastal environment, native wildlife, and early history of this land. All ages are welcome, but children younger than 6 years old may find this hike challenging. 9:00-11:00am.


Saturday Morning Market at Al Lang Stadium

Find St. Petersburg's Saturday Morning Market in the parking lot of Al Lang Stadium every Saturday from October to May. This market is an extraordinary ode to great food, creative expression, and our wonderfully vibrant community. Come see what happens when you combine a Farmers Market, a Craft Fair, and a Festival into an amazing weekly gathering. 9:00am-2:00pm.


Wildflower Walk at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

A ranger-guided walk highlights native wildflowers along the trails. Learn more about what is blooming this month. $3/adult, $1.50/child. 9:30am.


Museum Minis at the Museum of Fine Arts

Museum Minis invites children ages 2 to 5 years old and their favorite grownups to join the MFA in the galleries for stories, games, songs, and art. From shapes to colors and artists to animals, there is always something fun to discover. February's theme is Showtime! and will explore the art of the stage. Free for members or included with the cost of admission. Advance registration required. 10:00-11:00am.


Saturdays at the Morean Arts Center

Saturdays @ the Morean is a free family drop-in art studio hosted by the Morean Arts Center. Art activities are geared toward children ages 5 to 10. 10:00am-12:30pm & 1:00-3:30pm.


Localtopia at Williams Park

Keep Saint Petersburg Local is proud to bring back Localtopia to Williams Park for its 7th year! Localtopia is St. Pete’s largest “Community Celebration of All Things Local” showcasing over 250 of our city's favorite independent businesses and community organizations and features makers and merchants, Arts Village, Family Village, Health & Wellness Village, food trucks and restaurants, beer trucks and breweries, and so much more! Admission is free. 10:00am-5:00pm.


Gulfport's Get Rescued annual event is one of the largest animal rescue events in the state. All profits benefit participating non-profit rescue groups. In addition to the animal rescue organizations, there will be animal-related vendors, artists and crafters, an adoptable pet parade, pet care education, pet services, a pet food & supplies drive, free samples, training demos, a Bark-B-Que, food, DJ music, and more. Admission and parking are free!10:00am-5:00pm.


Little Surrealists Tour at The Dali Museum

Kids ages 4-11 are invited to bring their families on a special 1-hour Museum tour. Free with museum admission. 11:00am-12:00pm.


Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Children ages 4-11 can discover the creative world of Dalí through games, puzzles and arts + crafts activities that educate and encourage family interaction. DillyDally with Dalí takes place under the direction of the Museum’s Education Programs Associate in the 1st floor Stavros Education Center. 12:00-2:30pm.


Largo Fire Rescue Open House at Largo Fire Station #41

Get ready for some free fun -- Largo Fire Rescue's Open House features fire engine rides, station tours, Bayflite landing demo, "Jaws of Life" demo, Marshall the Fire Dog, face painting, and much more. 12:00-3:00pm.


Teddy Bear Picnic at Gulfport Public Library

If your child is in Grades K-5, then join Gulfport Public Library for games, crafts, and picnic snacks. Don't forget to bring your favorite teddy bear. 1:00-2:00pm.

Join the Second Line at Historic Uptown's Mardi Gras Party this Saturday, Feb. 22.

Laissez les bons temps rouler and join the Historic Uptown Neighborhood Association for an afternoon of Creole cuisine, live music, a second line parade to Round Lake, crafts for the kids, and beads for all. The fun is free and plates will be available for purchase from Chief's Creole Cafe from 3 to 6pm. A second line parade with Gibbs High School Marching Band begins at 3:30pm. 3:00-8:00pm.


Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium

See the Rowdies take on Inter Miami CF in this pre-season match. Admission is FREE. 7:00pm.


Sunday, February 23rd


Family Yoga Class at Peace of Yoga

Kidding Around Yoga Classes with Desiree utilize yoga poses creatively tucked into partner yoga, games and activities, original music, stories and more. This yoga class is specifically designed for kids (2 and older), but moms, dads, grandparents, and other caregivers are welcome! Donations accepted. 10:00-11:00am.


Trail Detectives at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Most animals are shy and use their fantastic camouflage to hide from us. So how do we know animals are around us when we cannot see them? Put your trail detective skills to the test to find what animals are present at the preserve. $3/adult, $1.50/child. 10:00-11:30am.


Corey Avenue Sunday Market at St. Pete Beach

Find this market located on Corey Avenue in St. Pete Beach. This market hosts 70+ local vendors selling local and conventional produce, plants, herbs, raw honey, take-home foods, artisan products, fresh baked goods, lunch bites, local art, handcrafts, and more! Fun for all ages and dog-friendly. 10:00am-2:00pm.

Sundays @ The Morean is a free family drop-in Clay Play Session hosted by the Morean Center for Clay. Clay, tools and working tables provided, please bring your imagination. This session is open to all families with children (not recommended for children under 3 years old). 1:00-3:00pm.


Drag Queen Story Hour at Allendale UMC

Community Cafe hosts this pop-up Drag Queen Story Hour at Allendale UMC. Juno Vibranz is the reader this month. 1:00pm.


Chess Club at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library

Does your K-12 grader enjoy playing chess? Or are they interested in learning the game? If so, join the library's Chess Club, run by teen volunteers. Get ready to learn the game or put your skills to the test. 6:30-7:30pm.
