A Happy Valentine’s Day can extend beyond you and your partner to become a family affair! We've rounded some fun ways to spend time together with your whole crew (and even a couple of date night drop-off places for the little ones). Here are our top picks for this year's best family and kids' Valentine's Day weekend events and activities in the Sunshine City.


Friday, February 14th


Open Gym at Bayside Sports Academy

Open Gym is open to children ages 6 & under every Friday. $8/child. 9:00-11:00am.


Toddler Time at Sky Zone

Join Sky Zone every Wednesday and Friday for Toddler Time for $10 per child with free accompanying adults. 9:30-11:00am.


Treats for My Sweets at Romp n' Roll

Join Romp n' Roll on Valentine's Day for a cookie decorating party. Children can decorate their own cookies, enjoy fun themed gym activities, hop in a bounce house, and more. Cost is $15/member, $20/non-member. 9:30-11:00am.


Babytime at Gulfport Public Library

If you have little ones under 2 years old, please join Gulfport Public Library for Babytime. There will be songs, books, lap bounce rhymes, and the opportunity to meet other caregivers with infants and young toddlers. Older siblings are also welcome. 10:00-10:30am.


Library Lovers Day at Great Explorations Children's Museum

Celebrate Library Lovers Day with Great Ex! The St. Petersburg Library System will be at the museum with a special puppet show and book distribution from 10am-12pm. They'll also help you sign up for a library card. Other activities include storytime and a bookmark craft at 1:30pm and giant madlibs at 2:30pm. 10:00am.


Toddler Early Literacy Program at St. Petersburg Main Library

Come join the main library for storytime featuring movement, music, and fun with rhymes, stories, and puppets! For children ages 1 - 3 with a caregiver. 10:15am & 11:00am.


Preschool Story Time at Gulf Beaches Public Library

Join Gulf Beaches Public Library fo a Valentine's Day story time! Participants will be decorating a Valentine house with sticker sheets. 10:30am.


After School Adventures at Barbara S. Ponce Library

Join Barbara S. Ponce Library after school for fun and exciting drop-in activities. Get hands-on and explore and learn by making art, playing games, doing science experiments, building fantastic creations, and investigating new worlds through books! Grades K & up. 3:30-4:30pm.


S.T.R.E.A.M. Club at Childs Park Library

Explore Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math at Childs Park Library's S.T.R.E.A.M. Club. Join in for hands-on science experiments, coding, stories, and more!For children grades 3 - 5. 4:15-5:00pm.


Kid's Night Out at Romp N Roll

Treat your kids ages 2 to 5 and yourself to a fun night out! Parents get an evening to themselves while the children get to run, play, dance, and have fun with energetic instructors. A pizza party dinner and bubble dance party are included. Children do not need to be potty-trained. $25/member, $30/non-member (sibling discount available). 6:00-9:00pm.


Valentine's Kids Night Out at Practically Pikasso

Enjoy 4 hours of kid-free fun on Valentine’s while your child participates in Practically Pikasso's Kids Night Out Valentine's Party! $55 per child includes a pottery project, games, crafts, pizza, and juice. Ages 5 to 12. 6:00-10:00pm.


St. Pete French Fry Festival at North Straub Park

Admission is free to this two-day festival in downtown St. Pete. All food trucks will be serving french fry-inspired dishes as well as their normal cuisine. Craft vendors and live music round out the entertainment. Kid- and pet-friendly! 6:00-11:00pm.


Friday Night Shuffle at St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club

Friday nights are free and open to the public at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club! Bring your own food and beverages and enjoy the courts. 7:00-10:00pm.


Winter Skies at SPC Planetarium and Observatory

The cool winter nights offer some of the best stargazing of the year, with the great hunter Orion dominating the evening sky. Stop by and view the Great Orion Nebula, the Pleiades star cluster, and brilliant Venus with SPC's rooftop telescopes. Children ages 5 & up are welcome to attend the planetarium show. 7:00pm & 8:15pm.


Saturday, February 15th


Weedon Walkabout at Weedon Island Preserve

Join Weedon Island for a guided hike through the mangrove and upland ecosystems of Weedon Island Preserve. Learn about the coastal environment, native wildlife, and early history of this land. All ages are welcome, but children younger than 6 years old may find this hike challenging. 9:00-11:00am.


Saturday Morning Market at Al Lang Stadium

Find St. Petersburg's Saturday Morning Market in the parking lot of Al Lang Stadium every Saturday from October to May. This market is an extraordinary ode to great food, creative expression, and our wonderfully vibrant community. Come see what happens when you combine a Farmers Market, a Craft Fair, and a Festival into an amazing weekly gathering. 9:00am-2:00pm.


Wildflower Walk at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

A ranger-guided walk highlights native wildflowers along the trails. Learn more about what is blooming this month. $3/adult, $1.50/child. 9:30am.


Sensory Friendly Film at Cobb Tyrone Luxury 10

Sensory Friendly showings provide families with varying abilities the opportunity to enjoy a family-friendly film where kids can be kids in a safe and accepting environment. Sonic the Hedgehog is this month's select movie. 10:00am.


Daddy Daughter Hair Styling Class at The Littlest Trunk

Spend some time learning quick and easy hairstyles that will help ease the morning routines. This is a great Daddy/Daughter date and a fun way to bond while learning together. Cost is $5, supplies provided (you can bring your own, combs/brushes). Space is limited so sign up early. 10:00am-12:00pm.


Community Fair at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library

Visit Barbara S. Ponce Public Library to see a showcase of services that your local community offers you. There will also be volunteer opportunities. 10:00am-1:00pm.


Saturdays at the Morean Arts Center

Saturdays @ the Morean is a free family drop-in art studio hosted by the Morean Arts Center. Art activities are geared toward children ages 5 to 10. 10:00am-12:30pm & 1:00-3:30pm.


Engineering Weekend at Great Explorations Children's Museum

Kick off Engineering Weekend at Great Explorations! On Saturday (10-2 only), see and sit in the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg show car. Other activities include car paintings, magnet-powered cars, relay race, and fizzy car rescue. Activities are included with membership/admission. 10:00am-4:30pm.


The Tampa Bay Collard Green Festival at Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum

Admission is free to this one-day community festival. Children 12 and under even have a festival to call their own at the TBCGF KidZone! Designed to captivate their interests in urban hands-on gardening, composting and more, this section is all about them! Featuring KidZone Sponsor, Healthy Start Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and other community partners such as Wunderfarms, chef’s Vince Blancato & Marguerite Jirau of the American Culinary Federation of Tampa Bay (serving collard green smoothies), Urban Youth Farm, Extended Transition- Urban Ag & Healthy Lifestyles, and more. 10:00am-5:00pm.


Little Surrealists Tour at The Dali Museum

Kids ages 4-11 are invited to bring their families on a special 1-hour Museum tour. Free with museum admission. 11:00am-12:00pm.


Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Join Barnes & Noble for a storytime and activities featuring "The President of the Jungle." 11:00am-12:00pm.


Explore More! Family Day at the Museum of Fine Arts

Join the MFA the third Saturday of the month for a special day of family fun! With arts and crafts, family tours, and other special programming, there is so much to do at the MFA. Each month will feature a different theme so your family can explore again and again. Included with membership/admission. 11:00am-2:00pm.


DillyDally with Dali at The Dali Museum

Children ages 4-11 can discover the creative world of Dalí through games, puzzles and arts + crafts activities that educate and encourage family interaction. DillyDally with Dalí takes place under the direction of the Museum’s Education Programs Associate in the 1st floor Stavros Education Center. 12:00-2:30pm.

Birds of Prey Encounter at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Join Boyd Hill for a 30-minute Birds of Prey encounter! Get an up-close look at a beautiful avian ambassador and learn how you can help birds of prey. Cost is $3/adult, $1.50/child. 10:00am.


Family Yoga Class at Peace of Yoga

Kidding Around Yoga Classes with Desiree utilize yoga poses creatively tucked into partner yoga, games and activities, original music, stories and more. This yoga class is specifically designed for kids (2 and older), but moms, dads, grandparents, and other caregivers are welcome! Donations accepted. 10:00-11:00am.


Corey Avenue Sunday Market at St. Pete Beach

Find this market located on Corey Avenue in St. Pete Beach. This market hosts 70+ local vendors selling local and conventional produce, plants, herbs, raw honey, take-home foods, artisan products, fresh baked goods, lunch bites, local art, handcrafts, and more! Fun for all ages and dog-friendly. 10:00am-2:00pm.


Stroll along with your friends or family at the first-ever Sunday Social, featuring the Central Arts District shops and a few special neighbors. Over 23 businesses will roll out the red carpet for you! Enjoy freebies, delicious brunch foods, sales, discounts & specials, live art from special guests, live music, and more! Stop by Bishop's to get your free wristband and gift. This event is free, kid-friendly, and open to the public. 12:00-4:00pm.


Engineering Weekend at Great Explorations Children's Museum

Engineering Weekend continues at Great Explorations with various hands-on activities including Make it Move, Marble Run, Robot Rooms, and more! Activities are included with membership/admission. 12:00-4:30pm.


Sundays at the Morean Center for Clay

Sundays @ The Morean is a free family drop-in Clay Play Session hosted by the Morean Center for Clay. Clay, tools and working tables provided, please bring your imagination. This session is open to all families with children (not recommended for children under 3 years old). 1:00-3:00pm.


Yoga and Mindfulness for Kids at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Children learn the basics of yoga and meditation through movement, games, and songs. Cost is $10 and two sessions are offered: 2pm for ages 4-7 and 3pm for ages 8-13. 2:00pm.

Chess Club at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library

Does your K-12 grader enjoy playing chess? Or are they interested in learning the game? If so, join the library's Chess Club, run by teen volunteers. Get ready to learn the game or put your skills to the test. 6:30-7:30pm.
