Weekend Guide: December 14 - 16

Let us do all of the research so you don't have to! Here's our roundup of family-friendly events and things to do with kids in St. Petersburg for December 14th to 16th.


Friday, December 14th


Open Gym at Bayside Sports Academy

Open Gym is open to children ages 6 & under every Friday. $6/child. 9:00-11:00am.


Terrific Tots at Great Explorations Children's Museum

This members-only program is offered when school is in session for children ages 1-3 and a caregiver. Join the museum for songs and movement, story time, an art or craft exploration and community time for tots and their adults! 9:30-10:00am.


Toddler Early Literacy Program at St. Petersburg Main Library

Join the library for story time featuring movement, music and fun with rhymes, stories, and puppets! For children ages 1 - 3 with a caregiver. 10:15am and 11:00am.

Make a Grinch Ornament at Growing Up

You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch! Make this ornament and watch his heart grow 10 sizes! This is a Premium Craft and is half price for members. If you are not a member, it is the cost of a day pass plus an additional $3 for supplies per child. 10:30-11:30am.


Preschool Story Time at Gulf Beaches Public Library

Preschool-aged children can enjoy songs, stories and crafts with a cookies theme! 10:30am.


Jolly Jam at Romp n' Roll

Reserve your spot now for Romp n' Roll's Jolly Jam for a fun-filled holiday party! Festivities include games and activities, treats, a moon bounce, the famous Bubble Dance Party and pictures with Santa! Members and Non-Members welcome! 3:30-7:00pm.


Reading Fun Storytime at Childs Park Community Library

Children in grades PreK-2 and their caregivers are invited for stories, music and fun! 4:15-5:00pm.


S.T.R.E.A.M. Club at Childs Park Community Library

Explore Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math with hands-on science experiments, coding, stories, and more! For children in grades 3-5. 4:15-5:00pm.


Movie Night at the Beach at St. Petersburg Municipal Beach

St. Petersburg Parks & Recreation's Aquatics Division is hosting a movie night at the beach featuring "The Santa Clause". Enjoy fun in the sand with your friends and family at the St. Petersburg Municipal Treasure Island Beach. Movie starts at dark. Admission is FREE; concessions are available. 5:00-9:00pm.


Kids' Night Out at Childs Park YMCA

Come one, come all! It's time for Childs Park Y-Achievers' Christmas Special Kids' Night Out. Parents leave the YMCA and enjoy quality time, knowing your child is in a fun, safe environment. Children join the YMCA staff for fun games, arts, crafts and more. Pizza and juice are provided. Parents' Night Out is for children ages 3 - 12 years (potty trained). $10 for Members, $15 for Non-Members. 6:00-10:00pm.


Parents' Night Out at Great Explorations Children's Museum

This monthly program allows parents to drop off their kiddos (ages 4-10) at Great Explorations Children's Museum for a night of play. Price is $25 for museum members or $35 for non-members and includes pizza, museum play, a science show, and a movie! Spots are limited and you must pre-register before 9am on day of the Parents’ Night Out you would like your child to attend. 6:00-10:00pm.

Treasure Island’s Lighted Boat Parade is like Las Vegas on the water – dazzlingly decorated boats of all kinds circle the city on one special night in a friendly competition for top prizes awarded after the parade that evening at The Club at Treasure Island. Residents with Treasure Island waterfront homes host boat parade parties but if you haven’t received an invitation, not to worry – there are plenty of prime viewing spots on the island. 6:00-8:15pm.


St. Pete Shuffle at St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club

Friday nights are free and open to the public at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club! Bring your own food and beverages and enjoy the courts. 7:00-10:00pm.

Saturday, December 15th

Saturday Morning Market at Al Lang Stadium

This lively and huge outdoor market is open from October to May in the parking lot of Al Lang Stadium. Live music, a variety of vendors and a strong sense of community make this market the heart of St. Pete. 9:00am-2:00pm.


Nature's Elements at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Children ages 3 to 6 will enjoy nature walks, tram rides, program animals, art, games, songs, and stories with environmental educator in this drop-off program with Amalia Fernand from Nature Explorers International. Nature Explorers, from 1 to 4pm, will have similar activities tailored for ages 7 to 12. Cost is $15. 9:30am-12:30pm.


Victorian Steampunk Christmas at Pinellas Pioneer Settlement

This unique, one of a kind, Steampunk Victorian winter holiday event is hosted by the Pinellas Pioneer Settlement, in partnership with Dragon’s Head Productions! Spend the day strolling about and meeting historic characters in the lovely shaded lanes of the historic Pinellas Pioneer Settlement. Enjoy the strolling carolers, Hooligan, and DJ Vald for some holiday and steampunk music and songs. Come sit a spell for a Victorian tea seating and end the day with a cider sing at the pole barn for some holiday cheer. Admission is $5 for everyone ages 5 & up. 10:00am-4:00pm.


Saturdays @ the Morean is a free family drop-in art studio hosted by the Morean Arts Center. 10:00am-3:30pm.

Snow Blast at Tyrone Square

SNOW in St. Petersburg! Snow Blast is a winter family festival for all ages featuring the latest in snow-making technology to provide a true snow experience! Reserve your time today! 10:00am-8:00pm.


Spend your afternoon creating family-friendly crafts at makeme's family crafternoon sessions. Bring your little ones and create some SWEET memories! During this special Saturday crafternoon, participants will be decorating pre-made gingerbread houses with edible toppings and creating gingerbread men ornaments. Fun for the whole family ages 4 & up! Cost is $30 per parent/child combo. 10:00am-12:00pm.

Little Surrealists Tour at The Dali Museum

Kids ages 4-11 are invited to bring their families on a special 1-hour Museum tour. Free with museum admission. 11:00am-12:00pm.

Santa's Holiday Revue at Central Park Performing Arts Center

This fast-paced, rollicking musical takes a joyous around the world tour of the dances, songs and stories from Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and many more. Students will sing, clap and tap along as they learn new and old traditions, customs and folklore that instill the magic of the season. This wonderful jubilee creates a memorable and heart-warming experience that celebrates the true spirit of cultural diversity. Now in its 17th consecutive year of touring! Tickets are $8.50/adult and $7.50/child. 11:00am.


Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Join Barnes & Noble for a storytime and activities featuring "Pete the Cat and the Missing Cupcakes." 11:00am.


Gingerbread House Workshop at FarmTable Cucina

Decorate your own gingerbread house at FarmTable Cucina's Winter Wonderland Workshop! Sit beside the Christmas tree outside on the patio and enjoy complimentary apple cider while creating your own miniature winter wonderland gingerbread farmhouse. Tickets are $35 (exclusive of tax and gratuity), which includes one gingerbread house, building supplies from the candyland supply table and two seats on the center patio. 12:00-5:30pm.


Children ages 4-11 can discover the creative world of Dali through games, puzzles and arts + crafts activities which educate and encourage family interaction. Cost is free. 12:00-2:30pm.


Come enjoy the 12th Annual Old Fashioned Christmas Parade in Downtown Largo. This neighborhood parade is the perfect way to ignite your Christmas spirit! 12:00-2:00pm.


Santa Clause Comes to Caddy's on the Beach

Gather up your little ones and bring them to Caddy's for their last chance to tell Old St. Nick their wishes for this holiday season before he heads back to the North Pole! 3:30-5:30pm.


Holiday Art Walk at Pinellas Arts Village

HO! HO! HO! Guess who's coming to town? Well to the Pinellas Arts Village, to be precise. You're sure to find that special something for everyone on your list at the studios, galleries and local artists and artisans. The Studios at 5663 will feature new works and gift items as well as PICTURES WITH SANTA. Mr. Claus will be in the studios ready to hear the wish lists of kids of all ages. Have pictures taken with Santa by Dylan Todd Photography for a suggested donation of just $5. Proceeds will benefit nonprofit Diversity Arts. 4:00-8:00pm.


Movie in the Park at Crescent Lake

Join Crescent Lake Neighborhood Association this holiday season to watch 'Merry Madagascar' followed by 'Elf' under the stars in the landmark baseball field at Crescent Lake! The movies will start at dusk. Children are encouraged to come in their jammies. Photos with Santa will be $5 and will benefit the City of St. Petersburg’s TASCO Program. Concessions will be sold by TASCO as well. 5:00pm.

Holiday Stroll: Let it Snow at Largo Central Park

Gather at Largo Central Park for a stroll through the beautiful lights and entertainment. This special night will feature Santa, kids' snow slide, lighted motorcycles and a holiday gift market. 6:30-9:30pm.

Sunday, December 16th


Sing N' Stroll with Music & Me at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Join Music & Me for a family friendly stroll through Boyd Hill Nature Preserve. Spend 30 minutes learning about various wildlife in a kid-friendly way from Tom McGrath, aka The Muffin Man, followed by songs led by Colleen McGrath Lilley. There will be two walks, 30 minutes each, beginning at 9:30 and 10:15. Come share this beautiful preserve with your friends and family. 9:30am & 10:15am.


Family Yoga Class at Peace of Yoga

Kidding Around Yoga Classes with Desiree utilize yoga poses creatively tucked into partner yoga, games and activities, original music, stories and more. This yoga class is specifically designed for kids ages 2 & up. Donations accepted. 11:30am-12:30pm.


Sundays at the Morean Center for Clay

Sundays @ The Morean is a free family drop-in clay play session hosted by the Morean Center for Clay. Clay, tools and working tables provided, please bring your imagination. This session is open to all families with children ages 3 & up. 1:00-3:00pm.

Santa at 3 Daughters Brewing

Santa will be at 3 Daughters Brewing! Santa will be outside so even your fur babies can get a chance to sit on Santa's lap. You will be able to take photos with your own phone or camera. This is a free event, but donations for Habitat for Humanity will be accepted. 2:00-5:00pm.


Junior Jinglers: Caroling at The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay

Calling all carolers! Please join Sunshine City Kids with your little ones as we spread our own holiday cheer to the senior residents of The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay! We’ll sing a few songs and deliver cards or other gifts (made in the comfort of your own home) to the residents. Register here. 2:00-3:00pm.


Come to Cassis and decorate your very own Gingerbread House with all the fixings! Guests can enjoy photos with Santa & Mrs. Claus, special holiday cocktails for adults, and a FREE glass of bubbles for adults wearing their ugly Christmas sweaters. Work on your masterpiece at Cassis, or take home the all-inclusive package and decorate by your Christmas tree! Cost is $35. 4:00-7:00pm.


Holiday Lighted Boat Parade at Redington Beach

There is nothing better than a parade during the holiday season. Wait!...maybe there is. It’s a boat parade! You can't help but get into the spirit of the season with lights gleaming off the cool ripples in the water and the holiday sounds coming from the lavishly decorated vessels. NEW this year is a lighted dock competition! 6:00-9:00pm.
