A list of kid-friendly events in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Snowfest returns to North Straub Park Saturday, Dec. 7.

The first weekend of December is here! That means there are tons of events taking place in the Sunshine City where kids and families can have fun this weekend. Click the links below for more information.

Friday, December 6th


Open Gym at Bayside Sports Academy

Open Gym is open to children ages 6 & under every Friday. $8/child. 9:00-11:00am.

Babytime at Gulfport Public Library

If you have little ones under 2 years old, please join Gulfport Public Library for Babytime. There will be songs, books, lap bounce rhymes, and the opportunity to meet other caregivers with infants and young toddlers. Older siblings are also welcome. 10:00-10:30am.

Toddler Early Literacy Program at St. Petersburg Main Library

Come join the main library for storytime featuring movement, music, and fun with rhymes, stories, and puppets! For children ages 1 - 3 with a caregiver. 10:15am & 11:00am.

The James Museum welcomes the youngest learners and their caregivers on the first Friday of every month. Grab your stroller and come for a morning filled with art, touchable objects, stories, songs, and a chance to connect with other adults. Each month brings a new theme and fun ways to explore through creative play. Ages 0–3 with an adult. Space is limited; reservations recommended. Included with admission; free for members. 10:30-11:30am.

Master Builders at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library

Grades K and up can put their engineering skills to the test! Build with LEGO® bricks, KEVA® planks, and other fun materials. 3:30-4:30pm.


Enchant Christmas at Tropicana Field

Enchant is the creator of the World's Largest Christmas Light Maze and Market coming to Tropicana Field November 22 - December 29. The event is also host to a bustling artisan Christmas Market, an Ice Skating Trail, seasonal food and beverage, visits with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, as well as exciting VIP and group experiences. It’s true - a world of Christmas wonder awaits! Tickets are on sale now. 4:00-11:00pm.


S.T.R.E.A.M. Club at Childs Park Library

Explore Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math at Childs Park Library's S.T.R.E.A.M. Club. Join in for hands-on science experiments, coding, stories, and more!For children grades 3 - 5. 4:15-5:00pm.


Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Pinellas Park City Hall

Mayor Sandra Bradbury, other council members, city officials, and residents will participate in the Fourth Annual Holiday Tree Lighting at Pinellas Park City Hall! This ceremony will kick off the Holiday in the Park event held at England Brothers Park. At the ceremony, there will be a holiday music performance prior to the tree lighting. After the tree lighting, make sure to join at England Brothers Park for the Holiday in the Park event. 5:30-6:30pm.


Holiday Lights in the Gardens

Join the Florida Botanical Gardens for a Pinellas County holiday tradition Nov. 29 - Jan. 4! The Gardens will sparkle with more than 1 million, twinkling, colorful LED lights of all shapes and sizes. Brand new this year will be expanded pathways and displays following the recently created Wetlands Walkway. Admission is a suggested donation of $5/person over the age of 13. 5:30-9:30pm.


Creepy Christmas: The ART Ride at Pinellas Arts Village

Take a trip on this fun, immersive ride for the whole family! Roll through Santa's workshop during a battle between good and evil elves. From the folks who brought you the Terror Tent ART Ride. 6:00-9:00pm.


Kid's Night Out at Romp N Roll

Treat your kids ages 2 to 5 and yourself to a fun night out! Parents get an evening to themselves while the children get to run, play, dance, and have fun with energetic instructors. A pizza party dinner and bubble dance party are included. Children do not need to be potty-trained. $25/member, $30/non-member (sibling discount available). 6:00-9:00pm.


Holiday in the Park at England Brothers Park

On December 6th and 7th, come on down to England Brothers Park (5010 81st Avenue) and celebrate the holidays as the Pinellas Park Police Explorer Post 912 present Holiday In The Park. This FREE community-wide family event will feature children's games, entertainment, photos with Santa, hayrides, children's train ride, and much more! 6:00-10:00pm.


Holiday Lights in Central Park

One of the most spectacular displays of holiday lights in Pinellas County is back for another year. Come and take a stroll through over two million LED lights throughout Largo Central Park, for free! The Ferris Wheel and Carousel are available for just $5 per ride along with a campfire and food for sale each night, Nov. 28 - Jan. 1. 6:00-11:00pm.


Parents Night Out/Friday Night Fun at Highland Recreation Complex

Kids will have a blast playing fun games throughout the facility including the gym, PlayWorld, and the game room. The snack shop will be open for purchases. Younger children are offered separate activities in the preschool room and must be potty trained. Cost: HC $70/$140 per season, Drop-in fee: $7/$14. 6:30-9:30pm.


Friday Night Shuffle at St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club

Friday nights are free and open to the public at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club! Bring your own food and beverages and enjoy the courts. 7:00-10:00pm.


Yuletide Skies at SPC Planetarium and Observatory

Explore the stars without trekking far from home, for a price that's out of this world: Free. The planetarium offers two free public shows on Friday nights at 7 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. when the college is in session. Shows are hosted by resident astronomer Dr. Craig Joseph and feature live narration with images displayed by computer-controlled projectors. Children are welcome as long as they are ages 5 & up. 7:00pm & 8:15pm.


The Winter Holidays truly begin with the family attending a full-length performance of the “Nutcracker” presented by the St Petersburg Ballet! The 40th annual production features 75 dancers ranging in age from 5 to 72. St. Petersburg Ballet Principal dancer, Daniel Johnson will perform the Sugar Plum Fairy’s Cavalier and alumni guests include Amos Oliver, Jalen Williams, and Marquis Floyd. Reserved tickets are $25; children 12 & under and students/seniors are $15. 7:30pm.


Saturday, December 7th


Bird Walk at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Look for birds on a guided hike led by expert birders. Binoculars are available for loan. Free and for all ages! 8:00am.


SPAS Navigating Nature at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Navigating Nature, sponsored by the St. Petersburg Audubon Society, is a free camp for kids in grades 4 through 8. Campers are given the opportunity to experience nature up-close-and-personal through a variety of activities including nature walks, animal encounters, crafts, and hands-on science. Registration is required. 8:30-11:30am.


Weedon Walkabout at Weedon Island Preserve

Join in for a guided hike through the mangrove and upland ecosystems of Weedon Island Preserve. Learn about the coastal environment, native wildlife, and early history of the Preserve. This hike may be up to 2 miles (round trip). All ages are welcome but children younger than 6 years old may find this hike challenging. 9:00-11:00am.


Kids Workshop at The Home Depot

With help from parents and store associates, your child will make a merry memory by creating a countdown calendar for the holiday season. All Kids Workshop attendees must be accompanied by a parent or adult at all times. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. 9:00am-12:00pm.


Saturday Morning Market at Al Lang Stadium

Find St. Petersburg's Saturday Morning Market in the parking lot of Al Lang Stadium every Saturday from October to May. This market is an extraordinary ode to great food, creative expression, and our wonderfully vibrant community. Come see what happens when you combine a Farmers Market, a Craft Fair, and a Festival into an amazing weekly gathering. 9:00am-2:00pm.


Snowfest at North Straub Park

St. Petersburg's Snowfest celebration is back! Activities include big + kiddie toboggan slides, art tent, karaoke, inflatables, Nomad Art Bus, food trucks, and more. Teens can stop by TASCO's Teen Area to play video games, charge their phones, listen to music, and hang out with their friends. Wristbands are $5 and are required for all activities. 9:00am-2:00pm.


Join Mickey and friends for Sky Zone's Fa La La Holiday Party. Free Accompanying Adults! 9:30-11:00am.

Nature's Elements at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Kids ages 3-6 will enjoy nature walks, art, games, songs, and stories with environmental educator Amalia Fernand from Nature Explorers International. Nature Explorers from 1-4pm will have similar activities that are tailored for ages 7-12. 9:30am-12:30pm.

Open Tree Climb at Pathfinder Outdoor Education

Pathfinder's trained facilitators take you through a brief ground school and then you can climb at your own pace into the canopy of a gorgeous live oak. Anyone ages 6 and up can climb - it's not just for kids! And it's FREE for every climber. 10:00am-3:00pm.


Largo Central Railroad at Largo Central Park

Join Largo Central Railroad for a ride around beautiful Largo Central Park on the miniature railroad. The accurately modeled scale locomotives pull you and your family along a mile-long loop through great scenery, the spooky tunnel, and our waterfall pond. Fun for all ages! 10:00am-3:00pm.


Saturdays at the Morean Arts Center

Saturdays @ the Morean is a free family drop-in art studio hosted by the Morean Arts Center. Art activities are geared toward children ages 5 to 10. 10:00am-12:30pm & 1:00-3:30pm.


Drag Queen Story Hour at Community Cafe

Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) is just what it sounds like—drag queens reading stories to children in libraries, schools, and bookstores. In spaces like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where people can present as they wish, where dress up is real. 11:00am-12:00pm.


Little Surrealists Tour at The Dali Museum

Kids ages 4-11 are invited to bring their families on a special 1-hour Museum tour. Free with museum admission. 11:00am-12:00pm.


Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Join Barnes & Noble for a storytime and activities featuring "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." 11:00am-12:00pm.

Pioneer Open House at Pinellas Pioneer Settlement

Step back in time for a relaxing afternoon with family and friends. The tour of buildings begins at 11am. Free and for all ages! 11:00am-2:00pm.


Holiday Makers Market at The West Events

Be the first to experience our area’s newest event space, The West Events, at its inaugural event! Hosted by Keep St. Pete Local, sip and shop for handmade gifts from 30 indie artists, artisans, and makers at this beautiful, new venue. Market activities include a beer, bubbles, & wine bar, DJ SugarBear, photo wall + photo booth, and holiday vibes. General admission is $5 and includes a free tote bag ($10 at door/kids under 12 are free). VIP admission is $20 and includes VIP Hour, drink ticket, and tote bag. 11:00am-3:00pm.


Kids Holiday Party at Gulf Beaches Public Library

Join Gulf Beaches Public Library for pizza, holiday crafts, candy, and a visit from Santa Claus! 12:00-2:00pm.

Children ages 4-11 can discover the creative world of Dali through games, puzzles, and arts + crafts activities that educate and encourage family interaction. Cost is free. 12:00-2:30pm.


Indie Flea St. Pete Holiday Street Faire at Green Bench Brewing Co.

Find Indie Flea at Green Bench Brewing the first Saturday of the month. Here, shop 100+ artisans and vendors, food trucks, mobile shops, live DJ, and more. This event is always free to attend and family- and pet-friendly! 12:00-4:00pm.


Mistletoe Market at Horan Park

Search local vendors for that perfect holiday gift, jump in on the action and participate in a FREE Chirstmas Zumba demo, check out the Festival of Trees hosted by the St. Pete Beach Chamber, and stick around for the annual Tree Lighting! 12:00-6:00pm.


Classic Holiday Movie Series at Regal Park Place

Between November 30 - December 21, enjoy a Classic Holiday Movie each Saturday for just $5 per ticket! "Gremlins" is on the big screen this week. 1:00pm.


Family WinterFest & Tree Lighting at Seminole Recreation Department

This free event features entertainment, bounce houses and slides, free make-and-take crafts, a 25+ ton snow hill, and of course a visit from Santa Claus. 5:00-9:00pm.


Holiday Stroll & Tree Lighting at Largo Central Park

Largo's best Holiday Light Display is back and the event to kick it off is bigger! Carolers and other entertainers will grace the park and stage as your family enjoys the activities for one great night. The tree lighting will take place at 6pm. Food and beverage vendors will be on-site, as well as the Holiday Strolling Market in its new location inside of the park. 5:00-10:00pm.


Sunday, December 8th


Aviary Tour: Great Horned Owls at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Get a behind-the-scenes look! See how staff run the Birds of Prey program and have an up-close encounter with the bird of the month. $3/adult, $1.50/child. 10:00am.


Songs at the Sea at North Shore Park

Kids Saving Oceans and Music & Me team up to provide a fun learning experience about how we can positively impact the ocean environment in which we live. Founder of Kids Saving Oceans, 7-year-old Miles Featherstone-Resch, shares important information about our ocean ecology and some easy life hacks for reducing our human impact followed by ocean-themed sing-a-long songs with Music & Me owner, Miss Colleen and The Muffin Man, aka, Mr. Tom, who was a college biology teacher for 45 years before sharing his love of music with children. 10:00-10:30am.


Family Yoga Class at Peace of Yoga

Kidding Around Yoga Classes with Desiree utilize yoga poses creatively tucked into partner yoga, games and activities, original music, stories and more. This yoga class is specifically designed for kids (2 and older), but moms, dads, grandparents, and other caregivers are welcome! Donations accepted. 10:00-11:00am.


Great Connections at Great Explorations Children's Museum

For this event, Great Explorations Children’s Museum will open early for children with special needs and their families to enjoy Great Connections, a sensory-friendly event. Great Explorations will close to the public, offer discounted admission, and provide a “cool down” room for families who need to take a break. 10:00am-12:00pm.


Corey Avenue Sunday Market at St. Pete Beach

Find this market located on Corey Avenue in St. Pete Beach. This market hosts 70+ local vendors selling local and conventional produce, plants, herbs, raw honey, take-home foods, artisan products, fresh baked goods, lunch bites, local art, handcrafts, and more! Fun for all ages and dog-friendly. 10:00am-2:00pm.


Largo Central Railroad at Largo Central Park

Sundays @ The Morean is a free family drop-in Clay Play Session hosted by the Morean Center for Clay. Clay, tools and working tables provided, please bring your imagination. This session is open to all families with children (not recommended for children under 3 years old). 1:00-3:00pm.


Sunday Funday at the St. Petersburg Main Library

Build and decorate cat-sized gingerbread houses out of cardboard boxes at this free and fun event. 2:00-5:00pm.

2nd Sunday at Tampa Bay Turners

Join Tampa Bay Turners every second Sunday for open gym (ages 4 & under) and open swim (all ages). Cost is $10/family. 3:00-5:00pm.
