Let us do all of the research so you don't have to! Here's our roundup of family-friendly events and things to do with kids in St. Petersburg for February 7-9.


Friday, February 7th


Open Gym at Bayside Sports Academy

Open Gym is open to children ages 6 & under every Friday. $8/child. 9:00-11:00am.


Toddler Time at Sky Zone

Join Sky Zone every Wednesday and Friday for Toddler Time for $10 per child with free accompanying adults. 9:30-11:00am.


Babytime at Gulfport Public Library

If you have little ones under 2 years old, please join Gulfport Public Library for Babytime. There will be songs, books, lap bounce rhymes, and the opportunity to meet other caregivers with infants and young toddlers. Older siblings are also welcome. 10:00-10:30am.


Toddler Early Literacy Program at St. Petersburg Main Library

Come join the main library for storytime featuring movement, music, and fun with rhymes, stories, and puppets! For children ages 1 - 3 with a caregiver. 10:15am & 11:00am.


James Playdate at The James Museum

The James Museum welcomes the youngest learners and their caregivers on the first Friday of every month. Grab your stroller and come for a morning filled with art, touchable objects, stories, songs, and a chance to connect with other adults. Each month brings a new theme and fun ways to explore through creative play. Ages 0–3 with an adult. Space is limited; reservations recommended. Included with admission; free for members. 10:30-11:30am.


After School Adventures at Barbara S. Ponce Library

Join Barbara S. Ponce Library after school for fun and exciting drop-in activities. Get hands-on and explore and learn by making art, playing games, doing science experiments, building fantastic creations, and investigating new worlds through books! Grades K & up. 3:30-4:30pm.


S.T.R.E.A.M. Club at Childs Park Library

Explore Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math at Childs Park Library's S.T.R.E.A.M. Club. Join in for hands-on science experiments, coding, stories, and more!For children grades 3 - 5. 4:15-5:00pm.


Kid's Night Out at Romp N Roll

Treat your kids ages 2 to 5 and yourself to a fun night out! Parents get an evening to themselves while the children get to run, play, dance, and have fun with energetic instructors. A pizza party dinner and bubble dance party are included. Children do not need to be potty-trained. $25/member, $30/non-member (sibling discount available). 6:00-9:00pm.


Friday Night Shuffle at St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club

Friday nights are free and open to the public at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club! Bring your own food and beverages and enjoy the courts. 7:00-10:00pm.


Winter Skies at SPC Planetarium and Observatory

The cool winter nights offer some of the best stargazing of the year, with the great hunter Orion dominating the evening sky. Stop by and view the Great Orion Nebula, the Pleiades star cluster, and brilliant Venus with SPC's rooftop telescopes. Children ages 5 & up are welcome to attend the planetarium show. 7:00pm & 8:15pm.


Harry Potter Trivia Night at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library

No, your Time-Turner did not malfunction -- It's the library's 4th annual Harry Potter Trivia Night! Test your knowledge of the wizarding world at this special after-hours event. All ages welcome. There is no charge for this event, but donations to the library are greatly appreciated. There will be snacks for all and prizes for the top-scoring team. Get a question and answer in advance when you call to register your team. 7:00-8:30pm.


Saturday, February 8th


Saturday Morning Market at Al Lang Stadium

Find St. Petersburg's Saturday Morning Market in the parking lot of Al Lang Stadium every Saturday from October to May. This market is an extraordinary ode to great food, creative expression, and our wonderfully vibrant community. Come see what happens when you combine a Farmers Market, a Craft Fair, and a Festival into an amazing weekly gathering. 9:00am-2:00pm.


5K Fun Run with Healthy St. Pete at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Practice healthy habits while making new friends at this free fun run! All levels and ages welcome. Meet at the flag pole in front of the Nature Center. 9:30am.


Toddler Grand Prix at Highland Recreation Complex

Racers, start your engines. This event is designed for pint-sized drivers. Enjoy a morning of racing the track, games, face painting, milk and cookies, and more. In celebration of race car season, the little ones will have milk at the end of the race in true Indy 500 fashion. This is a BYO motorized power wheels event. Cost is $8/child (after 2/3). 9:30-11:00am.


Kidz Korner at Vision Ace Hardware

Bring your child to Ace Hardware on MLK St. N to decorate a heart for Valentine's Day. Free fun for the kids! 10:00am-2:00pm.


Saturdays at the Morean Arts Center

Saturdays @ the Morean is a free family drop-in art studio hosted by the Morean Arts Center. Art activities are geared toward children ages 5 to 10. 10:00am-12:30pm & 1:00-3:30pm.


Gulfport Fine Arts Festival at Gulfport Veterans Park

Browse fine art in a relaxed, subtropical park on the waterfront. This two-day juried art exhibit features local art as well as some of Florida's finest artists. Parking and admission are free. 10:00am-5:00pm.


Old-Fashioned Valentine's Party at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library

Join the library for a fun, Old-Fashioned Valentines Party! Kids ages 3-7 can hear heartfelt stories and songs, make a cool craft, and enjoy a delicious snack. Please bring 30 signed valentines to exchange with storytime friends. A special container will be provided for each participant. Registration is required and space is limited. 10:30-11:30am.


Family Day at The James Museum

Join The James Museum for Family Day the second Saturday of every month! Family Day includes a kid-friendly tour, story time, and an artmaking workshop. This month's theme is "Pueblo Pottery." Ages 3-10 with an adult. Space is limited; reservations recommended. 10:30am-12:30pm.


Little Surrealists Tour at The Dali Museum

Kids ages 4-11 are invited to bring their families on a special 1-hour Museum tour. Free with museum admission. 11:00am-12:00pm.


Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Join Barnes & Noble for a storytime and activities featuring "Always More Love." 11:00am-12:00pm.


Alligator Walk at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Learn about the American alligator, Florida's state reptile, which calls our wetlands home on this guided hike. Cost is $3/adult, $1.50/child. 11:00am.


Rays Fan Fest at Tropicana Field

Rays Fan Fest returns to Tropicana Field this Saturday and features player interactions, games, clubhouse tours, youth clinic, DIY activities, batting cages, and more. Tickets are free and required for guests ages 18 & up. 11:00am-3:00pm.


DillyDally with Dali at The Dali Museum

Children ages 4-11 can discover the creative world of Dalí through games, puzzles and arts + crafts activities that educate and encourage family interaction. DillyDally with Dalí takes place under the direction of the Museum’s Education Programs Associate in the 1st floor Stavros Education Center. 12:00-2:30pm.


Valentine's Day Workshop at Young Chefs Academy

Ahhh, Valentine’s Day -- the day our hearts and minds wander to thoughts of the things we love… like bonbons, French toast, brownies, and “Sealed with a Kiss” muffins. Join Young Chefs Academy to whip up a “love-feast” of sweet, homemade treats and culinary fun where you can find that perfect recipe to make for that special someone. Cost is $35. 1:00-2:30pm.


Come and join to make and take a Valentine's Day Handprint and Footprint Wood Panel. Numerous sizes and shapes are available for $15 per project and $10 each additional. Enjoy some light snacks and beverages while you create homemade gifts with your little loves. 1:00-4:00pm.


Join cultured books at The Royal every second Saturday before ArtWalk to enjoy art house + international films. Films are paired with a corresponding book, some of the same film titles. Light fare complementary to the film or book selection makes for a multi-sensory experience. The event culminates with a discussion. 2:00pm.


Art for Your Heart -- St. Pete's Second Saturday ArtWalk

The Central Arts District, EDGE District, Grand Central District, Warehouse Arts District, and downtown Waterfront District unite for the St. Petersburg Second Saturday ArtWalk. Studios and galleries stay open late to welcome visitors, and the Downtown Looper Trolley offers free rides between locations. 5:00-9:00pm.


Kids Art & Yoga Mini Camp at Peace of Yoga

Whether you are enjoying an evening out for ArtWalk, a good movie, or a long dinner, Peace of Yoga is offering a 3-hour mini-camp for parents to have a night out, guilt-free! Meanwhile, your kids will be engaged by activities promoting mindfulness, peace, and compassion using breathing techniques, Yoga postures, and meditation to help them deal with everyday life. There will be a screening of the movie "Up" along with a light snack and craft included. Cost is $35 for children ages 6-12 ($25/each additional child). 6:00-9:00pm.


Pioneer Night at Pinellas Pioneer Settlement

Kids can enjoy a night of friends, fun, campfire, and s'mores, pioneer-style in this drop-off program. Cost is $22 for children ages 6 to 13. 6:00-10:00pm.


Family Fun Night at Seminole City Park

Join the Seminole Recreation Department for their 2nd Annual Family Night Out! Meet your neighbors and fellow Seminole Residents during Ice Breaker Bingo; enjoy smore’s as you listen to fireside stores of Seminole’s most notable residents; kids can enjoy crafts and games as they get a glimpse of what it was like growing up in the 1970s; enjoy a movie under the stars (Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory); food and drink will be available for purchase. 6:00-10:00pm.


Sunday, February 9th


Aviary Tour: Northern Crested Caracara at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Get a behind-the-scenes look! See how Boyd Hill runs the Birds of Prey program and have an up-close encounter with the bird of the month. Cost is $3/adult, $1.50/child. 10:00am.


Family Yoga Class at Peace of Yoga

Kidding Around Yoga Classes with Desiree utilize yoga poses creatively tucked into partner yoga, games and activities, original music, stories and more. This yoga class is specifically designed for kids (2 and older), but moms, dads, grandparents, and other caregivers are welcome! Donations accepted. 10:00-11:00am.


Corey Avenue Sunday Market at St. Pete Beach

Find this market located on Corey Avenue in St. Pete Beach. This market hosts 70+ local vendors selling local and conventional produce, plants, herbs, raw honey, take-home foods, artisan products, fresh baked goods, lunch bites, local art, handcrafts, and more! Fun for all ages and dog-friendly. 10:00am-2:00pm.

Valentine's Day Card Making at The Littlest Trunk

Drop in anytime between 11am and 4pm to make cards personalized by your little loves. Numerous options are available for $5 per card. All supplies are provided plus Valentine's Day-themed snacks and take-home items. 11:00am-4:00pm.


Sundays at the Morean Center for Clay

Sundays @ The Morean is a free family drop-in Clay Play Session hosted by the Morean Center for Clay. Clay, tools and working tables provided, please bring your imagination. This session is open to all families with children (not recommended for children under 3 years old). 1:00-3:00pm.


2nd Sunday at Tampa Bay Turners

Join Tampa Bay Turners every second Sunday for open gym (ages 4 & under) and swim (all ages). Cost is $10 per family. 3:00-5:00pm.


Chess Club at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library

Does your K-12 grader enjoy playing chess? Or are they interested in learning the game? If so, join the library's Chess Club, run by teen volunteers. Get ready to learn the game or put your skills to the test. 6:30-7:30pm.
