Another fantastic February weekend is here, and there are so many great things to do in and around St. Petersburg with kids. Here are some of our favorite events happening this weekend.

Friday, February 8th


Open Gym at Bayside Sports Academy

Open Gym is open to children ages 6 & under every Friday. $6/child. 9:00-11:00am.

Terrific Tots at Great Explorations

This members-only program is offered when school is in session for children ages 1-3 and a caregiver. Join the museum for songs and movement, story time, an art or craft exploration and community time for tots and their adults! 9:30-10:00am.


Volunteer Archaeology Lab at Weedon Island Preserve

Ever wonder what archaeologists do with all that stuff they dig up at archaeological sites once the fieldwork is finished? Join the Florida Public Archaeology Network in their Volunteer Lab and you can find out for yourself! Learn how artifacts and other archaeological material get processed in the laboratory so that researchers can use them to discover new information about the past. You will get the chance to sort through, identify, and wash artifacts from real archaeological sites! All ages are welcome to participate or observe; children 12 and under should be accompanied by an adult. Registration required. 10:00am-12:00pm.

Toddler Early Literacy Program at St. Petersburg Main Library

Join the library for story time featuring movement, music and fun with rhymes, stories, and puppets! For children ages 1 - 3 with a caregiver. 10:15am and 11:00am.


Create A Piece of Pizza with Heart Shaped Pepperoni for that special friend! Ages Toddler+. Cost is free for members and $6 for non-members (includes Playspace day pass). 10:30-11:30am.

Master Builders at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library

Put your engineering skills to the test every Friday! Build with LEGO bricks, KEVA planks and other fun materials. No registration required; grades K & up. 3:30-4:30pm.

Internet Safety for Kids at Seminole Community Library

Join Garfield and his friends and learn the importance of internet privacy when using the computer. Online friends are not the same as real friends, and it’s important not to share personal information with strangers. Minimum of 3 kids need for program to take place. Registration required; grades 2-5. 4:00-5:00pm.


Reading Fun Storytime at Childs Park Community Library

Children in grades PreK-2 and their caregivers are invited for stories, music and fun! 4:15-5:00pm.


S.T.R.E.A.M. Club at Childs Park Community Library

Explore Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math with hands-on science experiments, coding, stories, and more! For children in grades 3-5. 4:15-5:00pm.

Kids Night Out at Romp n' Roll

Looking for a reliable date night sitter? Join Romp n' Roll every Friday night for Kids Night Out. Each week will feature a different theme and children will get the chance to enjoy a pizza party, gym activities, bounce house and more! For children ages 2 to 5; $25 for members and $30 for non-members. 6:00-9:00pm.


Parents' Night Out at Great Explorations

Drop off your children for a night of fun at the museum, while you take some time for yourself! Cost is $25 per member child ; $35 non-member child. Each additional sibling receives a $5 discount. Includes pizza, snacks, juice, museum play, Touch Tunnel, science demonstration, and G-rated movie. Ages 4 to 10. 6:00-10:00pm.


Sunset Movie: Wizard of Oz at Caddy's on the Beach

Follow the yellow brick road down to the sunset for an evening with one of your favorite classic films Wizard of Oz. Dinner and drink specials. Costume contest. 6:00-9:00pm.

St. Pete Shuffle at St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club

Friday nights are free and open to the public at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club! Bring your own food and beverages and enjoy the courts. 7:00-10:00pm.

Saturday, February 9th


5K Fun Run with Healthy St. Pete at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Start the new year off on a good foot! Practice healthy habits while making new friends! All levels welcome. Meet at the flag pole in front of the nature center. Cost is FREE, all ages.


Saturday Morning Market at Al Lang Stadium

This lively and huge outdoor market is open from October to May in the parking lot of Al Lang Stadium. Live music, a variety of vendors and a strong sense of community make this market the heart of St. Pete. 9:00am-2:00pm.

Every Saturday is Toddler Time at Sky Zone! $10 per child and free accompanying adult. 9:30-11:00am.

Saturdays @ the Morean is a free family drop-in art studio hosted by the Morean Arts Center. 10:00am-3:30pm.

Kidz Korner at Vision Ace Hardware

Bring your child to Ace Hardware on MLK St. N to decorate a heart for Valentine's Day! Free and fun! 10:00am-2:00pm.

Family Day: Pueblo Pottery at The James Museum

Examine pottery and sculpture made by Native American artists, such as Tammy Garcia, and then transform clay into a unique creation of your own.  Included with admission. Best for ages 3-10; children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited. 10:30am-12:30pm.

Wiggle, Giggle, Sing & Dance! at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library

Enjoy this multi-sensory approach to music for all ages which includes a variety of song styles with dancing, bubbles, scarves, and rhythm instruments. Registration is required and space is limited. 10:30-11:15am.

Community Bazaar & Family Field Day at The Sanderlin Center

This free event is open to the public and aims to increase awareness and access to local resources available to children and families in the community with activities including a DJ, face painting, crafts, basketball tournaments, food trucks, vendor tables, fitness classes, garden demos, educational workshops, and giveaways. 11:00am-3:00pm.


Rays Fan Fest at Tropicana Field

Get ready for another baseball season at the Trop with Clubhouse tours, beer garden, goat yoga, Rays yard sale, DIY activities, batting cages, interactions with Tampa Bay Rays and Tampa Bay Rowdies players, and lots more! Fan Fest is free; however, all attendees 18 years and older require a ticket. General admission entrance is at 11 a.m., while Season Ticket Holders will gain early entry at 10 a.m. 11:00am-3:00pm.


Little Surrealists Tour at The Dali Museum

Kids ages 4-11 are invited to bring their families on a special 1-hour Museum tour. Free with museum admission. 11:00am-12:00pm.

Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Join Barnes & Noble for a storytime and activities featuring "All You Need is Love." 11:00am-12:00pm.

Lovebug Canvas at Growing Up

Create our own Lovebug canvas with those sweet little feet for Valentine's Day keepsakes! Cost is $3 for members or $9 for non-members (includes Playspace Day Pass). 11:30am-12:30pm.

Children ages 4-11 can discover the creative world of Dali through games, puzzles and arts + crafts activities which educate and encourage family interaction. Cost is free. 12:00-2:30pm.


Metro Grand Opening at Metro Inclusive Health

Metro Wellness & Community Centers has a new name! Celebrate the grand opening of Metro Inclusive Health and their newly renovated 47,000 sq ft healthcare facility located in Historic Kenwood with tours, a community cookout, live entertainment, bouncy house, family games, crafts and more! 2:00-6:00pm.


Seminole Family Night Out at Seminole City Park

Join Seminole Recreation Department at Seminole City Park for a night at the camp fire. Children's activities and a movie will be shown. Fire pit food will be available for a small fee. Get the family outdoors and enjoy the beautiful City Park at night. This is a FREE family event. 6:00-10:00pm.


Sunday, February 10th


Corey Avenue Sunday Market at St. Pete Beach

Find this market located on Corey Avenue in St. Pete Beach. This market hosts 70+ local vendors selling local and conventional produce, plants, herbs, raw honey, take home foods, artisan products, fresh baked goods, lunch bites, local art, hand crafts and more! Fun for all ages and dog-friendly. 10:00am-2:00pm.

Renowned Silhouette Artist Keith Donaldson, formerly of Disney World, will be at The Posh Tot just before Valentine's Day for custom silhouettes of your children or yourself. Keith will be creating amazing freehand silhouette portraits using only a pair of scissors by simply looking at your child's profile! These popular events are wonderful for keepsakes and memories you will take home that day! Cost is $35, reserve a time in advance by calling The Posh Tot. 11:00am-4:00pm.


BYOBaby and Flow with Abby Goodwin at The Body Electric Yoga Co.

Calling all parentals: dedicate some time to yourself without having to call the babysitter. Join Abby for BYOBaby and Flow: a session for folks and babes, with a mix of baby-wearing, baby-chilling and yoga-flowing all in one. Class structure is loose, so you're free to get up and move around as needed. No one expects class to be perfectly quiet, so squeaks and cries are the new norm! Appropriate for babies who can still be worn and/or are learning to crawl. Cost is $20. 11:00am-12:30pm.


Alligator Walk at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Learn about the American alligator, Florida’s state reptile, which calls our wetlands home. Cost is $3/adult and $1.50/child. 11:30am.

Family Yoga Class at Peace of Yoga

Kidding Around Yoga Classes with Desiree utilize yoga poses creatively tucked into partner yoga, games and activities, original music, stories and more. This yoga class is specifically designed for kids ages 2 & up. Donations accepted. 11:30am-12:30pm.

Sundays at the Morean Center for Clay

Sundays @ The Morean is a free family drop-in clay play session hosted by the Morean Center for Clay. Clay, tools and working tables provided, please bring your imagination. This session is open to all families with children ages 3 & up. 1:00-3:00pm.

Natural Printmaking at Pinellas Pioneer Settlement

Find natural patterns in nature and use them to create a beautiful hand printed tea towel to take home! Perfect for beginners. Cost is $20, ages 6 and up. 2:00pm.
