A list of kid-friendly events in St. Petersburg, Florida.

It's the perfect time of year to explore Boyd Hill Nature Preserve.

Whether you have a free Saturday morning or a full weekend of festivities to plan – if you’re looking for fun things to do with your kids in St. Pete this weekend, Sunshine City Kids has you covered! 


Friday, January 10th


Open Gym at Bayside Sports Academy

Open Gym is open to children ages 6 & under every Friday. $8/child. 9:00-11:00am.


Babytime at Gulfport Public Library

If you have little ones under 2 years old, please join Gulfport Public Library for Babytime. There will be songs, books, lap bounce rhymes, and the opportunity to meet other caregivers with infants and young toddlers. Older siblings are also welcome. 10:00-10:30am.

Toddler Early Literacy Program at St. Petersburg Main Library

Come join the main library for storytime featuring movement, music, and fun with rhymes, stories, and puppets! For children ages 1 - 3 with a caregiver. 10:15am & 11:00am.


Preschool Story Time at Gulf Beaches Public Library

Join Gulf Beaches Public Library for songs, stories, and crafts with a "Snow" theme. 10:30am.


S.T.R.E.A.M. Club at Childs Park Library

Explore Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math at Childs Park Library's S.T.R.E.A.M. Club. Join in for hands-on science experiments, coding, stories, and more!For children grades 3 - 5. 4:15-5:00pm.


Kid's Night Out at Romp N Roll

Treat your kids ages 2 to 5 and yourself to a fun night out! Parents get an evening to themselves while the children get to run, play, dance, and have fun with energetic instructors. A pizza party dinner and bubble dance party are included. Children do not need to be potty-trained. $25/member, $30/non-member (sibling discount available). 6:00-9:00pm.


Friday Night Shuffle at St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club

Friday nights are free and open to the public at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club! Bring your own food and beverages and enjoy the courts. 7:00-10:00pm.


Saturday, January 11th


Sunrise Paddle the Lake at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Enjoy the beautiful colors of early morning and the photographer's "golden hour" as you explore the City's best-kept secret! Led by an experienced naturalist-guide, look for the special birds, reptiles, invertebrates, and plants that call Lake Maggiore home. Appropriate for beginners to expert paddlers ages 8 & up. All boats and equipment are provided. $25. 7:00-9:30am.


Weedon Walkabout at Weedon Island Preserve

Join in for a guided hike through the mangrove and upland ecosystems of Weedon Island Preserve. Learn about the coastal environment, native wildlife, and early history of the Preserve. This hike may be up to 2 miles (round trip). All ages are welcome but children younger than 6 years old may find this hike challenging. 9:00-11:00am.


Grind for Life at St. Pete Skatepark

The Grind for Life Series is a national, all ages and skills series in both street and bowl benefiting the Grind for Life Organization, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that assists cancer patients with travel expenses. This series leads to the Annual Awards at The Boardr HQ in Tampa where top skaters in each category are recognized. 9:00am-5:00pm.


Saturday Morning Market at Al Lang Stadium

Find St. Petersburg's Saturday Morning Market in the parking lot of Al Lang Stadium every Saturday from October to May. This market is an extraordinary ode to great food, creative expression, and our wonderfully vibrant community. Come see what happens when you combine a Farmers Market, a Craft Fair, and a Festival into an amazing weekly gathering. 9:00am-2:00pm.


5k Fun Run with Healthy St. Pete at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Practice healthy habits while making new friends! All levels and ages welcome. Meet at the flag pole in front of the Nature Center. Free. 9:30am.


Saturdays at the Morean Arts Center

Saturdays @ the Morean is a free family drop-in art studio hosted by the Morean Arts Center. Art activities are geared toward children ages 5 to 10. 10:00am-12:30pm & 1:00-3:30pm.


Family Day at The James Museum

Join The James Museum for Family Day every second Saturday of the month! Family Day includes a kid-friendly tour, storytime, and an artmaking workshop. This month's theme is "Lines and Geometric Designs." Ages 3-10 with an adult. Space is limited; reservations recommended. 10:30am-12:30pm.


Alligator Walk at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Learn about the American alligator, Florida's state reptile, which calls our wetlands home on this guided hike. Cost is $3/adult or $1.50/child; all ages. 11:00am.


Little Surrealists Tour at The Dali Museum

Kids ages 4-11 are invited to bring their families on a special 1-hour Museum tour. Free with museum admission. 11:00am-12:00pm.


Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Join Barnes & Noble for a storytime and activities featuring "The Return of Thelma the Unicorn." 11:00am-12:00pm.


Children ages 4-11 can discover the creative world of Dali through games, puzzles, and arts + crafts activities that educate and encourage family interaction. Cost is free. 12:00-2:30pm.


Escape This Bookstore at Barnes & Noble

Join Barnes & Noble to explore the newest addition to the exciting Escape This Bookstore! series. Decide your destiny by solving puzzles and riddles to pass each challenge and get to the next adventure! For ages 8-12. 2:00pm.


Cultured Books presents Int'l Children's Film Series at The Royal -- a yearlong family film series celebrating films from around the world. Join in at The Royal every second Saturday before ArtWalk to enjoy art house + international films. 2:00-4:00pm.


Second Saturday Artwalk in St. Petersburg

The Central Arts District, EDGE District, Grand Central District, Warehouse Arts District and downtown Waterfront District unite for the St. Petersburg Second Saturday ArtWalk. Studios and galleries stay open late to welcome visitors from 5-9pm. Many of the ArtWalk studios/galleries celebrate the opening of brand new exhibitions during ArtWalk. 5:00-9:00pm.


Kids Art & Yoga Mini Camp at Peace of Yoga

Whether you are enjoying an evening out for ArtWalk, a good movie, or a long dinner, Peace of Yoga is offering a 3-hour mini-camp for parents to have a night out, guilt-free! Meanwhile, your kids will be engaged by activities promoting mindfulness, peace, and compassion using breathing techniques, Yoga postures, and meditation to help manage daily stressors and big emotions. A light snack and take-home craft are included. For ages 6-12; $35/child, $25/sibling. 6:00-9:00pm.

Pioneer Night at Pinellas Pioneer Settlement

Kids can enjoy a night of friends, fun, campfire, and s'mores, pioneer style at this monthly drop-off camp. Ages 6 to 13; $22. 6:00-10:00pm.


Sunday, January 12th


Aviary Tour: Barred Owls at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Get a behind-the-scenes look! See how the Birds of Prey program is run and have an up-close encounter with the bird of the month. $3/adult, $1.50/child. 10:00am.


Family Yoga Class at Peace of Yoga

Kidding Around Yoga Classes with Desiree utilize yoga poses creatively tucked into partner yoga, games and activities, original music, stories and more. This yoga class is specifically designed for kids (2 and older), but moms, dads, grandparents, and other caregivers are welcome! Donations accepted. 10:00-11:00am.


Great Connections at Great Explorations

For this event, Great Explorations Children’s Museum will open early for children with special needs and their families to enjoy Great Connections, a sensory-friendly event. Great Explorations will close to the public, offer discounted admission and provide a “cool down” room for families who need to take a break. Cost is $5/person or free for members. 10:00am-12:00pm.


Corey Avenue Sunday Market at St. Pete Beach

Find this market located on Corey Avenue in St. Pete Beach. This market hosts 70+ local vendors selling local and conventional produce, plants, herbs, raw honey, take-home foods, artisan products, fresh baked goods, lunch bites, local art, handcrafts, and more! Fun for all ages and dog-friendly. 10:00am-2:00pm.


Festivals of Speed at Vinoy Park

The 16th Annual Festivals of Speed at St. Petersburg is located in downtown St. Petersburg. The luxury lifestyle Motorsports display will showcase over 300 exotic cars, motorcycles, watercraft, and luxury brands. The Festivals of Speed show field has become known for its unique diversity, showcasing both vintage and contemporary vehicles of all makes and models placed for display amongst the splendor that is Vinoy park. General admission tickets are $20; kids under age 12 are free. 10:00am-4:00pm.


Sundays at the Morean Center for Clay

Sundays @ The Morean is a free family drop-in Clay Play Session hosted by the Morean Center for Clay. Clay, tools and working tables provided, please bring your imagination. This session is open to all families with children (not recommended for children under 3 years old). 1:00-3:00pm.

2nd Sunday at Tampa Bay Turners

Join Tampa Bay Turners every second Sunday for open gym (ages 4 & under) and open swim (all ages). Cost is $10/family. 3:00-5:00pm.
