A list of kid-friendly events in the St. Petersburg, Florida area.

Just one month until school starts back so we're rounding up the best family-friendly events and activities happening around St. Pete this weekend to help you make the most of your summer break. Click the links below for more information.


Friday, July 12th


Open Gym at Bayside Sports Academy

Open Gym is open to children ages 6 & under every Friday. $8/child. 9:00-11:00am.


Itty Bitty Splashtime at Highland Family Aquatic Center

Enjoy companionship of other parents and caregivers while children play together in a safe aquatic environment. Mom’s clubs are welcome. Children not potty trained must wear a vinyl swim diaper under their bathing suit. Vinyl diapers are available for sale at the facility. $1.50/child. 9:45-10:45am.


Toddler Art at Seminole Community Library

Join the library for this fun and messy hour of toddler art, including lots of paint, crayons, glue, stickers, bubbles, and more! Please dress children for mess. All caregivers will be expected to participate and assist their little ones. Registration required. 10:00-11:00am.


Music & Motion at St. Petersburg Main Library

Join the library for literacy programs featuring dance and music for children ages 1-5 with their caregivers. 10:15am and 11:00am.


Preschool Story Time at Gulf Beaches Public Library

Join Gulf Beaches Public Library for songs, stories, and crafts with a "Stars and Space" theme. 10:30am.


A Universe of Stories at Childs Park Recreation Center

Students entering grades K-2 can explore the universe with stories, participation activities, music, games, and crafts. 2:00-3:00pm.


Fortnite Friday at Practically Pikasso Your little gamers (and even the not so little ones) will love partying and painting with Practically Pikasso! Participants will be creating an 8x10 pre-drawn Loot Llama canvas and a ceramic Durrr Burger Bank. They may even get down to a little FLOSSING! Cost is $35/participant (includes refreshments, supplies, supervision and taxes). Parents are welcome to stay. 2:00pm & 7:00pm.


Summer Movie at Largo Public Library

Get ready for the weekend by enjoying a movie and snack at the library. Today's movie is "Wall-E." 2:00-3:30pm.


S.T.R.E.A.M. Club at Childs Park Recreation Center

Children in grades 3-5 can explore Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math at the library's S.T.R.E.A.M. Club. Join in for hands-on science experiments, coding, stories, and more! 4:00-5:00pm.


Internet Safety for Kids at Seminole Community Library

Join Garfield and friends and learn the importance of internet safety when using the computer.  Each participant will receive a free pair of earbuds and other fun giveaways! This week's lesson is "Cyberbullying." Registration required. 4:30-5:30pm.


Kid's Night Out at Romp N Roll

Treat your kids ages 2 to 5 and yourself to a fun night out! Parents get an evening to themselves while the children get to run, play, dance, and have fun with energetic instructors. A pizza party dinner and bubble dance party are included. Children do not need to be potty-trained. $25/member, $30/non-member (sibling discount available). 6:00-9:00pm.


Flick N Float at Southwest Pool

Bring your favorite float or chair and join Largo Rec for a Friday night family movie. Vendors will be onsite with snacks for sale. "Ralph Breaks the Internet" will begin at 7pm. Cost is $5/person and is open to all ages. 6:30-10:00pm.


Flick & Float at Jennie Hall Pool

Flick & Float Movie Night at the Pool is back with new movie nights, happening every Friday starting June 7th. The event is hosted by the City of St. Petersburg's Aquatics Division. "Trolls" is on the big screen this week. $2/ages 3-12, $3/ages 13 & up. 7:00-10:00pm.


Friday Night Shuffle at St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club

Friday nights are free and open to the public at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club! Bring your own food and beverages and enjoy the courts. 7:00-10:00pm.


Summer Skies at SPC Planetarium & Observatory

Explore the stars without trekking far from home, for a price that's out of this world: Free. The planetarium offers two free public shows on Friday nights at 7pm and 8:15pm. Shows are hosted by resident astronomer Dr. Craig Joseph and feature live narration with images displayed by computer-controlled projectors. Ages 5 & up only. 7:00pm & 8:15pm.


Cinema on the Sand at Upham Beach

Come out and enjoy a night under the stars while watching "The Meg" being shown from a barge! You can float and watch the movie or bring a blanket and relax on the sand. The movie is free to attend, and Paradise Grille will be providing food and beverages for purchase. 8:00-10:00pm.


Saturday, July 13th


Member Mornings at Great Explorations Children's Museum

On Saturday mornings in June and July, Great Ex opens their doors an hour early for Members only! Enjoy this quiet time on the museum floor as their way of saying thank you for being members and supporting the museum all year long. 9:00-10:00am.


Weedon Walkabout at Weedon Island Preserve

Join in for a guided hike through the mangrove and upland ecosystems of Weedon Island Preserve. Learn about the coastal environment, native wildlife, and early history of the Preserve. This hike may be up to 2 miles (round trip). All ages are welcome but children younger than 6 years old may find this hike challenging. 9:00-11:00am.


Saturday Morning Market at Williams Park

Join the Saturday Morning Market for the Williams Park Summer Market! There will be live music and vendors with fresh produce, read-to-eat foods, drinks, crafts, art, and more! This event will run every Saturday from June 1st until August 31st. 9:00am-1:00pm.


Join Sky Zone for a "Frozen" event! Come meet, greet, and jump with all of the characters. Tickets are $14 per child with free accompanying adults. 9:30-11:00am.


Splash's Treasure Hunt at Highland Family Aquatic Center

Hidden treasures have been places all around Highland's pool for children to gather. Come aboard Ye Mystic Krewe of Santa Margarita pirate ship, but beware of the plank! Purchase your admission bracelet for $6 per person (members) or $9/person (non-members) at Highland Recreation Complex starting June 5th. Hunts are divided by age group: 2-4yrs, 5-7yrs, 8-10yrs, 11-12yrs. Splash's Snack Bar will be open with $1 hot dogs available for purchase. 10:00am-2:00pm.


Family Garden Yoga at Gulfport Public Library

The whole family is welcome to refresh with Christa in this summer yoga series. Please meet in the Friends Room if weather doesn't permit outdoor session. 10:15-11:15am.


Space Camp at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library

Take a giant leap for fun-kind with space camp for kids of all ages! There will be activities such as an astronaut obstacle course and a "rocket" launch station, and you'll learn about constellations and moons while eating free snacks. Recommended for K-5. Registration required. 10:30am-12:00pm.


Family Day: Hold Your Horses! at The James Museum

Trot through the museum in search of horses in the art and learn about the important jobs they do. Head back to the children’s studio and create a horse sculpture of your own. Family Day features fun with an artsy, western, or wildlife twist! Themed activities include story time, a kid-friendly tour, and an artmaking workshop. Best for ages 3–10; children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited. Included with admission; free for members. 10:30am-12:30pm.


A Universe of Stories at St. Petersburg Main Library

Children entering grades K-2 can explore the universe with stories, participation activities, music, games, and crafts. 11:00am-12:00pm.


Little Surrealists Tour at The Dali Museum

Kids ages 4-11 are invited to bring their families on a special 1-hour Museum tour. Free with museum admission. 11:00am-12:00pm.


Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Join Barnes & Noble for a storytime and activities featuring "The Lion King." 11:00am-12:00pm.


Children ages 4-11 can discover the creative world of Dali through games, puzzles and arts + crafts activities which educate and encourage family interaction. Cost is free. 12:00-2:30pm.


Creature Feature at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Live animal encounter! Learn interesting facts about a program animal featured at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve every Saturday and Sunday. 2:00pm.


Dog Swim Day at Lake Vista Pool

Spoil your dog with a day at the pool! Owner must bring proof of dog’s vaccinations. Sorry, no human swimming permitted during Dog Swim Days. Admission is $5 per dog. 4:30-6:00pm.


The Central Arts District, EDGE District, Grand Central District, Warehouse Arts District and downtown Waterfront District unite for the St. Petersburg Second Saturday ArtWalk. Studios and galleries stay open late to welcome visitors from 5-9 pm. Many ArtWalk studios/galleries celebrate the opening of brand new exhibitions during ArtWalk. Discover wonderful surprises, visit your favorite artist or find a new one. The Downtown Looper Trolley is now part of ArtWalk on Second Saturdays taking visitors to all of the galleries in the Waterfront District with stops every 15 minutes. 5:00-9:00pm.


Movie Night at the Beach at St. Petersburg Municipal Beach

The St. Petersburg Parks & Recreation's Aquatics Division presents Movie Night at the Beach featuring "Shark Tales." This event is located at St. Petersburg Municipal Beach at Treasure Island, and admission is free! Movie starts at dark. Concessions available for purchase including food and beverages. 7:00-10:00pm.


Sunday, July 14th


Family Yoga Class at Peace of Yoga

Kidding Around Yoga Classes with Desiree utilize yoga poses creatively tucked into partner yoga, games and activities, original music, stories and more. This yoga class is specifically designed for kids (2 and older), but moms, dads, grandparents and other caregivers are welcome! Donations accepted. 10:00-11:00am.


Great Connections at Great Explorations Children's Museum

For this event, Great Explorations Children’s Museum will open early for children with special needs and their families to enjoy Great Connections, a sensory-friendly event. Great Explorations will close to the public, offer discounted admission and provide a “cool down” room for families who need to take a break. $5/person or free for members. 10:00am-12:00pm.


Corey Avenue Sunday Market at St. Pete Beach

Find this market located on Corey Avenue in St. Pete Beach. This market hosts 70+ local vendors selling local and conventional produce, plants, herbs, raw honey, take home foods, artisan products, fresh baked goods, lunch bites, local art, hand crafts and more! Fun for all ages and dog-friendly. 10:00am-2:00pm.


Bird of Prey Talk at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Join Boyd Hill for a 30 minute bird of prey show every Sunday! Get an up close look at a beautiful avian ambassador and learn how you can help birds of prey. Included with preserve admission. 10:00am.


Baby & Me Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Introducing Barnes & Noble's new Baby & Me Storytime for caregivers and children 0-24 months old. Join in to read a book and participate in activities featuring sensory growth for your little ones. Plus, get a free Starbucks tall, hot or iced coffee (Café stores only). 11:00am.


Family Fun Day at St. Pete Beach Family Aquatic Center

Come and enjoy music, family fun, slides, pool basketball, games, prizes and much more at St. Pete Beach Family Aquatic Center! 12:00-3:00pm.


Creature Feature at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Live animal encounter! Learn interesting facts about a program animal featured at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve every Saturday and Sunday. 2:00pm.


SPARK Lab: Fun in the Sun at St. Petersburg Main Library

Explore the effects of the sun with UV beads, design your own shades and spin a super sun catcher. For children in grades 3 - 5. 2:30-3:30pm.


2nd Sunday at Tampa Bay Turners

Join Tampa Bay Turners every second Sunday for open gym (ages 4 & under) and swim (all ages). Cost is $10/family. 3:00-5:00pm.
