Weekend Guide: June 14 - 16

Summer break is in full swing in the Sunshine City, and we've rounded up lots of family-friendly events and activities happening around St. Pete this Father's Day weekend. Click the links below for more information.


Friday, June 14th


Open Gym at Bayside Sports Academy

Open Gym is open to children ages 6 & under every Friday. $8/child. 9:00-11:00am.


Itty Bitty Splashtime at Highland Family Aquatic Center

Enjoy companionship of other parents and caregivers while children play together in a safe aquatic environment. Mom’s clubs are welcome. Children not potty trained must wear a vinyl swim diaper under their bathing suit. Vinyl diapers are available for sale at the facility. $1.50/child. 9:45-10:45am.


Music & Motion at St. Petersburg Main Library

Join the library for literacy programs featuring dance and music for children ages 1-5 with their caregivers. 10:15am and 11:00am.


Preschool Story Time at Gulf Beaches Public Library

Join the library for songs, stories, and crafts with a "dads" theme. 10:30am.


A Universe of Stories at Childs Park Recreation Center

Students entering grades K-2 can explore the universe with stories, participation activities, music, games, and crafts. 2:00-3:00pm.


Summer Movie at Largo Public Library

Get ready for the weekend by enjoying a movie and snack at the library. Today's movie is "Meet the Robinsons." 2:00-3:30pm.


Summer LEGO Robotics Club at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library

Students entering grades 3-12 can work together using LEGO® WeDo 2.0 kits to learn how to build and program a robot!  Make a sound machine, dancing robot, explore space, and much more!  Design robots using the same materials that are used in the World Robot Olympiad and First LEGO® League Jr. Registration required. 3:30pm.


S.T.R.E.A.M. Club at Childs Park Recreation Center

Children in grades 3-5 can explore Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math at the library's S.T.R.E.A.M. Club. Join in for hands-on science experiments, coding, stories, and more! 4:00-5:00pm.


Parents' Night Out at Great Explorations Children's Museum

This monthly program allows parents to drop off their kiddos (ages 4-10) at Great Explorations Children's Museum from for a night of play! Price is $25 for museum members or $35 for non-members and includes pizza, museum play, a science show, and a movie! Spots are limited! Must Pre-register before 9 am on day of the Parents’ Night Out. 6:00-10:00pm.


Flick & Float at Northwest Pool

Flick & Float Movie Night at the Pool is back with new movie nights, happening every Friday starting June 7th. The event is hosted by the City of St. Petersburg's Aquatics Division. "Smallfoot" is on the big screen this week. $2/ages 3-12, $3/ages 13 & up. 7:00-10:00pm.


Friday Night Shuffle at St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club

Friday nights are free and open to the public at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club! Bring your own food and beverages and enjoy the courts. 7:00-10:00pm.


Summer Skies at SPC Planetarium

Explore the stars without trekking far from home, for a price that's out of this world: free! The planetarium offers two free public shows on Friday nights at 7 pm and 8:15 pm when the college is in session. Shows are hosted by resident astronomer Dr. Craig Joseph and feature live narration with images displayed by computer-controlled projectors. Ages 5 & up. 7pm & 8:15pm.


TB Rays at Tropicana Field

It's Pride Night at Tropicana Field! Come out to see the Rays take on the Angels at home. Take advantage of $7.11 ticket night by stopping in to any participating 7-Eleven to pick up a ticket voucher. 7:10pm.


Saturday, June 15th


Member Mornings at Great Explorations Children's Museum

On Saturday mornings in June and July, Great Ex opens their doors an hour early for Members only! Enjoy this quiet time on the museum floor as their way of saying thank you for being members and supporting the museum all year long. 9:00-10:00am.


Saturday Morning Market at Williams Park

Join the Saturday Morning Market for the Williams Park Summer Market! There will be live music and vendors with fresh produce, read-to-eat foods, drinks, crafts, art, and more! This event will run every Saturday from June 1st until August 31st. 9:00am-1:00pm.


Wildflower Walk at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

A ranger-guided, all-ages walk highlights native wildflowers along the trails. Learn more about what is blooming this month! $3/adult, $1.50/child. 9:30am.


Join Sky Zone to Infinity & Beyond with Buzz Lightyear and friends! This epic family event will have a character meet, greet, and jump, light breakfast, all things Sky Zone, and so much more! Tickets are $14 per child with free accompanying adults. 9:30-11:00am.


Kidding Around Yoga at Museum of Fine Arts

The Kidding Around Yoga system utilizes the yoga poses or asanas creatively tucked into: partner yoga, games and activities, original music, stories and more.  The class is specifically designed for kids ages 3 & up – families welcome.  $5 per person includes admission to the MFA Collections gallery. 10:00-11:00am.


Nerf Wars at Jungle Gym

Join Jungle Gym for coach-led Nerf battles in their padded and air conditioned gym. The event will consist of many short battles. Once a child is out, it won't be long before they are back on the floor for more! Guns, darts, and goggles provided. Cost is $10, ages 6+. 10:30-11:30am.


The Littlest Trunk will be having a special edition of “Drag Queen Story Hour" and reading a story + having an exclusive look at “The Bravest Knight,” a children’s television show coming to Hulu. Free book giveaways as well! 11:00am-12:00pm.


A Universe of Stories at the St. Petersburg Main Library

Explore the universe with stories, participation activities, music, games, and crafts for kids in grades K-2. 11:00am-12:00pm.


Make and Take at the Museum of Fine Arts

Kids ages 5 & up can create their own masterpiece inspired by works in the MFA collection and special exhibitions. Supplies are included. FREE with Museum admission. No registration necessary. 11:00am-2:00pm.


Little Surrealists Tour at The Dali Museum

Kids ages 4-11 are invited to bring their families on a special 1-hour Museum tour. Free with museum admission. 11:00am-12:00pm.


Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Join Barnes & Noble for a storytime and activities featuring "Hop on Pop." 11:00am-12:00pm.


Children ages 4-11 can discover the creative world of Dali through games, puzzles and arts + crafts activities which educate and encourage family interaction. Cost is free. 12:00-2:30pm.


Father's Day Market & Car Show at 3 Daughters Brewing

Celebrate Father's Day with a Market and Car show at 3 Daughters! There will be local vendors, classic cars, special drink releases, and live music. 12:00-6:00pm.


Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field

Cheer on the Rays at home as they play the Angels. All fans get a short sleeve hoodie while supplies last. 1:10pm.


Creature Feature at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Live animal encounter! Learn interesting facts about a program animal featured at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve every Saturday and Sunday. 2:00pm.


Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium

See the Rowdies take on the Charleston Battery at home. 6:30pm.


Sunday, June 16th


Family Yoga Class at Peace of Yoga

Kidding Around Yoga Classes with Desiree utilize yoga poses creatively tucked into partner yoga, games and activities, original music, stories and more. This yoga class is specifically designed for kids (2 and older), but moms, dads, grandparents and other caregivers are welcome! Donations accepted. 10:00-11:00am.


Corey Avenue Sunday Market at St. Pete Beach

Find this market located on Corey Avenue in St. Pete Beach. This market hosts 70+ local vendors selling local and conventional produce, plants, herbs, raw honey, take home foods, artisan products, fresh baked goods, lunch bites, local art, hand crafts and more! Fun for all ages and dog-friendly. 10:00am-2:00pm.


Bird of Prey Talk at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Join Boyd Hill for a 30 minute bird of prey show every Sunday! Get an up close look at a beautiful avian ambassador and learn how you can help birds of prey. Included with preserve admission. 10:00am.


Family Fun Day at the St. Pete Beach Family Aquatic Center

Come and enjoy music, family fun, slides, pool basketball, games, prizes and much more! $3/adult, $2/child, senior. 12:00-3:00pm.


TB Rays at Tropicana Field

It's Family Fun Day as the Rays play the Angels at home. All kids get a Rays fanny pack while supplies last. 1:10pm.


Chess Club at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library

Does your child enjoy playing chess? Is he/she interested in learning the game?  If so, join the library for Chess Club run by the teen volunteers. Grades K to 12; registration required. 1:30pm.

SPARK Lab: It Constellation Crafts at St. Petersburg Main Library

Craft a constellation projector and create starry smudge art with a toothbrush! For children grades 3 - 5. 2:30-3:30pm.


Celebrate Dad with a few of his favorite things.... sports, beer & food! Sundial St. Pete will have local breweries on site, live music, BBQ specials from Locale Market, lawn games for kids, and a live stream of the U.S. Open on Skytron screens! 4:00-8:00pm.
