Spring is here so get out there and take advantage of all of the great family-friendly events happening this weekend in St. Petersburg, Florida. We're sharing all of the fun things to do for kids in our Weekend Guide for March 22 - 24. Click the links below for more information.

Friday, March 22nd


Open Gym at Bayside Sports Academy

Open Gym is open to children ages 6 & under every Friday. $6/child. 9:00-11:00am.

Terrific Tots at Great Explorations

This members-only program is offered when school is in session for children ages 1-3 and a caregiver. Join the museum for songs and movement, story time, an art or craft exploration and community time for tots and their adults! 9:30-10:00am.

Toddler Early Literacy Program at St. Petersburg Main Library

Join the library for story time featuring movement, music and fun with rhymes, stories, and puppets! For children ages 1 - 3 with a caregiver. 10:15am and 11:00am.

Preschool Story Time at Gulf Beaches Public Library

Join Gulf Beaches Public Library for songs, stories and crafts with a "Windy Days" theme. 10:30am.

Grand Opening at St. Petersburg Police Department Headquarters

The St. Petersburg Police Deparment Headquarters' Ribbon Cutting ceremony starts at 11am; the building will be open to the public from noon to 4pm. 11:00am-4:00pm.


Reading Fun Storytime at Childs Park Community Library

Children in grades PreK-2 and their caregivers are invited for stories, music and fun! 4:15-5:00pm.

Kids Night Out at Romp n' Roll

Looking for a reliable date night sitter? Join Romp n' Roll every Friday night for Kids Night Out. Each week will feature a different theme and children will get the chance to enjoy a pizza party, gym activities, bounce house and more! For children ages 2 to 5; $25 for members and $30 for non-members. 6:00-9:00pm.


Movies in the Park at Largo Central Park

Gather up the family, grab your blankets and join Largo Recreation for a movie on the big screen! Hotel Transylvania will start at dusk. On-site parking and concessions are available. 6:30pm.

St. Pete Shuffle at St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club

Friday nights are free and open to the public at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club! Bring your own food and beverages and enjoy the courts. 7:00-10:00pm.

"The Stars of Spring" at SPC Planetarium & Observatory

Explore the stars without trekking far from home, for a price that's out of this world: Free. The planetarium offers two free public shows on Friday nights. Shows are hosted by resident astronomer Dr. Craig Joseph and feature live narration with images displayed by computer-controlled projectors. Ages 5+. 7:00pm & 8:15pm.

Saturday, March 23rd


Saturday Morning Market at Al Lang Stadium

This lively and huge outdoor market is open from October to May in the parking lot of Al Lang Stadium. Live music, a variety of vendors and a strong sense of community make this market the heart of St. Pete. 9:00am-2:00pm.

Nature's Elements at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Ages 3-6 will enjoy nature walks, tram rides, program animals, art, games, songs, and stories with environmental educator Amalia Fernand from Nature Explorers International. Amalia has taught programs at Boyd Hill since 2001, and is offering four weeks of classes focusing on: amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals, that are designed specifically for a younger age. Nature Explorers from 1-4pm, will have similar activities that are tailored for ages 7-12. $15/child. 9:30am-12:30pm.

Mahalo Luau Party at Sky Zone

Come meet Maui and Moana at Sky Zone's Mahalo Luau Party! There will be face painting, snacks, leis, meet & greet with the characters, and FREE accompanying adults! 9:30-11:00am.

St. Pete Tiny Home Festival at SPC Allstate Center

Come see the latest and greatest in tiny home living trends! Learn about simplifying your life and living greener and local. LocalShops1's St Pete Tiny Home Festival & Live Local expo will feature tiny homes, micro homes, food trucks, mobile boutiques, artists, vendors, workshops, entertainment, children's activities and much more! Advance all-access tickets: $15/one day or $20 both days; children 10 and under free. 10:00am-6:00pm.

Spring Family Day at the Morean Arts Center

Join the Morean Arts Center for a FREE day of hands-on family fun! Make and Take Art Activities, Face Painting, Cookie Decorating, DIY Photo Opps...and more! Head across the street to the Chihuly Collection Native Garden for a live ladybug release and additional hands-on art activities. Ladybugs will be released at 2pm. 10:00am-2:00pm.


Little Surrealists Tour at The Dali Museum

Kids ages 4-11 are invited to bring their families on a special 1-hour museum tour. Free with museum admission. 11:00am-12:00pm.

Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Join Barnes & Noble for a storytime and activities featuring "Little Blue Truck's Springtime Storytime." 11:00am-12:00pm.


Trail Detectives at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Most animals are shy and use their fantastic camouflage to hide from us. So how do we know animals are around us when we cannot see them? Put your trail detective skills to the test to find what animals are present at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve. $3/adult, $1.50/child. 11:00am.

Children ages 4-11 can discover the creative world of Dali through games, puzzles and arts + crafts activities which educate and encourage family interaction. Cost is free. 12:00-2:30pm.


Drag Queen Story Hour at Community Cafe

Join Drag Queen Story Hour Tampa Bay for some Dr. Seuss book readings. 1:00pm.

Ladybug Release at The Chihuly Collection

Join The Chihuly Collection for a fun, FREE springtime event in the Chihuly Collection Native Garden! Get hands-on with clay and make melting bugs for your garden, chalk art fun for all, learn about summer camp opportunities and continued Youth/Teen programming, and the 2pm Ladybug release will help keep the native Floridian garden happy and healthy. Costumes are encouraged! 1:00-3:00pm.


Edible Wilds Walk at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Explore what plants are edible and what to avoid in this popular guided hike. $3/adult, $1.50/child. 1:00pm.


West African Stories at St. Petersburg South Community Library

Join the library for a fun afternoon of West African folktales, music, coloring and games.  Light refreshments will be served.  Sponsored by the Friends of South Community Library. 2:00-4:00pm.


Join Barnes & Noble to explore the exciting new Escape This Book! Series. Decide your destiny by solving puzzles and riddles to pass each challenge and get to the next adventure! 2:00pm.


Family Night Hike at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Join rangers for the preserve's most popular guided hike to explore the preserve after hours in a small group setting. Look for alligators, listen for bats and search for scorpions! $5/adult, $3/child. 8:00pm.


Sunday, March 24th


Wildflower Walk at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

This monthly guided walk highlights native wildflowers along the trails. Learn more about what is blooming, and don’t miss a thing. Cost is $3/adult and $1.50/child. 9:30am.


Corey Avenue Sunday Market at St. Pete Beach

This market hosts 70+ local vendors selling local and conventional produce, plants, herbs, raw honey, take home foods, artisan products, fresh baked goods, lunch bites, local art, hand crafts and more! Fun for all ages and dog-friendly. 10:00am-2:00pm.

BYOBaby and Flow at The Body Electric Yoga Company

Calling all parentals: dedicate some time to yourself without having to call the babysitter. Join Abby for BYOBaby and Flow: a session for folks and babes, with a mix of baby-wearing, baby-chilling and yoga-flowing all in one. Class structure is loose, so you're free to get up and move around as needed. No one expects class to be perfectly quiet, so squeaks and cries are the new norm! Bring your mat and diaper bag. Mamas/papas/guardians welcome. Appropriate for babies who can still be worn and/or are learning to crawl. 11:00am-12:15pm.

Family Yoga Class at Peace of Yoga

Kidding Around Yoga Classes with Desiree utilize yoga poses creatively tucked into partner yoga, games and activities, original music, stories and more. This yoga class is specifically designed for kids ages 2 & up. Donations accepted. 11:30am-12:30pm.


Rock Painting at Walter Fuller Park

S.U.N. BEAM FLORIDA is sponsoring Rock Painting. Open to everyone. Come and enjoy an afternoon of rock painting, whether you are an expert or a beginner. Feel free to bring your own supplies. S.U.N. BEAM FLORIDA will be providing the rocks with painting supplies. We wish to uplift and encourage others to share. 12:30-2:30pm.

Sundays at the Morean Center for Clay

Sundays @ The Morean is a free family drop-in clay play session hosted by the Morean Center for Clay. Clay, tools and working tables provided, please bring your imagination. This session is open to all families with children ages 3 & up. 1:00-3:00pm.

ThunderBug at Great Explorations Children's Museum

Come meet ThunderBug the official mascot for the Tampa Bay Lightning at Great Ex! While all Great Ex members and the public are invited, Great Ex also welcomes all Captain, All-Star, Hall-of-Fame and Premium Kids Club members as special guests on Sunday. 1:30-2:30pm.
