Sundial's Annual Tree Lighting Celebration is Saturday, Nov. 23.

It's the weekend before Thanksgiving and there are lots of great events to get you and your kids out and about in St. Pete! Scroll our list below for all of the best family-friendly (and lots of free!) happenings around the Sunshine City. Click the links for more information.


Friday, November 22nd


Open Gym at Bayside Sports Academy

Open Gym is open to children ages 6 & under every Friday. $8/child. 9:00-11:00am.


Preschool Character Program at Southwest Recreation Complex

Preschool Character Program is a monthly drop-in program for kids ages 5 & under. Cost is $5/members and $10/non-members. 9:30-10:30am.

Babytime at Gulfport Public Library

If you have little ones under 2 years old, please join Gulfport Public Library for Babytime. There will be songs, books, lap bounce rhymes, and the opportunity to meet other caregivers with infants and young toddlers. Older siblings are also welcome. 10:00-10:30am.


Toddler Early Literacy Program at St. Petersburg Main Library

Come join the main library for story time featuring movement, music and fun with rhymes, stories, and puppets! For children ages 1 - 3 with a caregiver. 10:15am & 11:00am.


Preschool Story Time at Gulf Beaches Public Library

Join Gulf Beaches Public Library for songs, stories, and crafts with a "Thankful" theme. 10:30am.


Treasure Island, Florida’s sand sculpture capital, hosts the11th Annual Sanding Ovations Masters Cup November 20-24. All it takes is several tons of sand, plenty of water, and lots of imagination to build a masterpiece – at least for ten master sculptors who return to Treasure Island for the Sand Sculpture Competition and Music Festival. 8:00am-10:00pm.


Master Builders at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library

Kids in grades K and up are invited to put their engineering skills to the test! Build with LEGO® bricks, KEVA® planks, and other fun materials. 3:30-4:30pm.


Enchant Christmas at Tropicana Field

Enchant is the creator of the World's Largest Christmas Light Maze and Market coming to Tropicana Field November 22 - December 29. The event is also host to a bustling artisan Christmas Market, an Ice Skating Trail, seasonal food and beverage, visits with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, as well as exciting VIP and group experiences. It’s true - a world of Christmas wonder awaits! Tickets are on sale now - use code STPETE2019 to save $15 per person.


S.T.R.E.A.M. Club at Childs Park Library

Explore Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math at Childs Park Library's S.T.R.E.A.M. Club. Join in for hands-on science experiments, coding, stories, and more!

For children grades 3 - 5. 4:15-5:00pm.


Internet Safety for Kids at Seminole Community Library

Join Garfield and friends and learn the importance of internet safety when using the computer.  Each participant will receive a free pair of earbuds and other fun giveaways! For grades 2-5; registration required. 4:30-5:30pm.


Join the City of Pinellas Park Recreation Services for the Annual Pinellas Park Family Camp Out! This year it will be held at the Wounded Warriors Abilities Ranch at Lurie Park (5500 62nd Ave. N.) and you can register for the event at Forbes or Broderick Recreation Centers. Cost is $15 per family of 5. 5:00pm-10:00am.

Movies in the Park at Largo Central Park

Gather up the family, grab your blankets and join Largo Rec for a movie on the big screen in beautiful Largo Central Park. Free on-site parking available. Food and beverages are available for sale, including smores and hot dogs that you can make in the fire pit. Secret Life of Pets 2 begins at dusk. 6:00-8:30pm.


Creepy Christmas: The ART Ride at Pinellas Arts Village

Take a trip on this fun, immersive ride for the whole family! Roll through Santa's workshop during a battle between good and evil elves. From the folks who brought you the Terror Tent ART Ride. 6:00-9:00pm.

Kid's Night Out at Romp N Roll

Treat your kids ages 2 to 5 and yourself to a fun night out! Parents get an evening to themselves while the children get to run, play, dance, and have fun with energetic instructors. A pizza party dinner and bubble dance party are included. Children do not need to be potty-trained. $25/member, $30/non-member (sibling discount available). 6:00-9:00pm.


Italian Food & Wine Festival at Albert Whitted Park

Join Gulf to Bay Food Truck Association for food, fun, live music, and all the pasta, pizza, cannolis, and wine you can eat and drink! Free admission and pet- and kid-friendly. 6:00-11:00pm.


Parents Night Out/Friday Night Fun at Highland Recreation Complex

Kids will have a blast playing fun games throughout the facility including the gym, PlayWorld, and the game room. The snack shop will be open for purchases. Younger children are offered separate activities in the preschool room and must be potty trained. Cost: HC $70/$140 per season, Drop-in fee: $7/$14. 6:30-9:30pm.


Friday Night Shuffle at St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club

Friday nights are free and open to the public at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club! Bring your own food and beverages and enjoy the courts. 7:00-10:00pm.


Saturday, November 23rd


Sunrise Paddle the Lake at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Enjoy the beautiful colors of early morning and the photographer's "golden hour" as you explore the City's best-kept secret! Led by an experienced naturalist and guide, this tour is appropriate for beginners to expert paddlers. All boats and equipment are provided. Cost is $25; ages 8 & up. 7:00-9:30am.

Weedon Walkabout at Weedon Island Preserve

Join in for a guided hike through the mangrove and upland ecosystems of Weedon Island Preserve. Learn about the coastal environment, native wildlife, and early history of the Preserve. This hike may be up to 2 miles (round trip). All ages are welcome but children younger than 6 years old may find this hike challenging. 9:00-11:00am.


Saturday Morning Market at Al Lang Stadium

St. Petersburg's Saturday Morning Market is back for fall! This market is an extraordinary ode to great food, creative expression, and our wonderfully vibrant community. Come see what happens when you combine a Farmers Market, a Craft Fair, and a Festival into an amazing weekly gathering. 9:00am-2:00pm.


Nature's Elements at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Kids ages 3-6 will enjoy nature walks, art, games, songs, and stories with environmental educator Amalia Fernand from Nature Explorers International. Nature Explorers from 1-4pm will have similar activities that are tailored for ages 7-12. 9:30am-12:30pm.


Join Sky Zone for an extra special Toddler Time! FREE Accompanying Adults. 9:30-11:00am.


Breakfast with Santa at Tyrone Square

Join Tyrone Square for breakfast with Santa! Enjoy a delicious Chick-fil-a breakfast in the food court starting at 9:30am. Santa arrives shortly after and kids will walk down to his chair for pictures and more fun. Starting at 10:00am, Great Explorations Children's Museum will provide activities, face painting, and an ornament crafting station near the play area and Santa's chair. 9:30am-12:00pm.


Sensory Friendly Film at Cobb Tyrone Luxury 10

Sensory-friendly showings provide families with varying abilities the opportunity to enjoy a family-friendly film where kids can be kids in a safe environment. Frozen 2 begins at 10am. Tickets are available in person only the Wednesday prior to each showing. 10:00am.


Fall at the Farm at Brick Street Farms

Join Brick Street Farms for Fall At The Farm! $5 Farm Tours, free henna tattoos, photo booth, DIY herb planting station, holiday gift sets, Nah Dogs Vegan Hot Dog cart, Bloody Mary bar, food samples, coffee, and more! 10:00am-2:00pm.


Saturdays at the Morean Arts Center

Saturdays @ the Morean is a free family drop-in art studio hosted by the Morean Arts Center. Art activities are geared toward children ages 5 to 10. 10:00am-12:30pm & 1:00-3:30pm.


CraftArt Festival at Florida CraftArt

Located just outside the doors of the Florida CraftArt Gallery, along Central Avenue in downtown St. Petersburg, CraftArt Festival 2019, presented by the Red Apple Group, is a two-day destination for tourists and local visitors to enjoy a fun-filled, visually exciting Florida weekend. Collectors and art lovers will be delighted by the creations of over 100 of the nation’s best contemporary fine craft artists, artist demonstrations, food trucks, craft beers and a children’s activity tent sponsored by The Don CeSar. 10:00am-4:00pm.


Thanks-ploration at Great Explorations Children's Museum

Join Great Ex to celebrate all the things and people you are grateful for this year. Share what you are thankful for on the gratitude wall and “fall” into the craft area to create pumpkin pie crafts and more. This event is in conjunction with the museum's food drive and is the last day for donations of boxed and canned goods. 10:30am-12:00pm.


Little Surrealists Tour at The Dali Museum

Kids ages 4-11 are invited to bring their families on a special 1-hour Museum tour. Free with museum admission. 11:00am-12:00pm.


Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Join Barnes & Noble for a storytime and activities featuring "Anna, Elsa and the Secret River" and "Frozen 2." 11:00am-12:00pm.


Elephant & Piggie's "We are in a Play!" at Central Park Performing Arts Center

Get ready for a musical experience, ripped from the pages of Mo Willems’s beloved, award-winning, best-selling children’s books. Filled with beloved characters and lively songs, Elephant & Piggie’s “We Are in a Play!” is a perfect educational theatre opportunity. In this vaudevillian romp, Elephant and Piggie sing and dance their way through plenty of pachydermal peril and swiney suspense that will leave audiences doing the “Flippy Floppy Floory” dance all night long! 11:00am.


Reptile and Amphibian Hike at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Join Boyd Hill to explore the preserve while hoping to cross paths with gopher tortoises, yellow rat snakes, southern leopard frogs, and so much more on this all-ages hike. Included with admission ($3/adult, $1.50/child). 11:00am.


Children ages 4-11 can discover the creative world of Dali through games, puzzles and arts + crafts activities that educate and encourage family interaction. Cost is free. 12:00-2:30pm.


Creature Feature at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Live animal encounter! Learn interesting facts about a program animal featured at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve every Saturday and Sunday. 2:30pm.


4th Saturday Art Walk at Pinellas Arts Village

Come visit the Pinellas Arts Village to kick off the holiday season with new art, gifts, live music, FREE pictures with Santa & Mrs. Claus, and The Art Tent's Creepy Christmas ride! 4:00-10:00pm.


Join in the festivities as Santa makes his grand arrival at Sundial! This magical night will be filled with the first snowfall, a tree lighting, holiday musical entertainment, face painting, arts + crafts from Sundial Gift Shoppe, cookie decorating from Locale Market, and much more. Plus, you can win free money from the Sundial Money Machine contest. 5:30-8:30pm.


Parents' Night Out: Pioneer Night at Pinellas Pioneer Settlement

Pioneer Night gives parents a chance to take a night off while campers run around in the dark and burn things! All of this happens safely, under the supervision of experienced Pioneer Camp staff. They'll play games in the dark, build and light a giant community fire, eat S'mores, and generally have a great time. Cost is $22. 6:00-10:00pm.


Movie Night at the Beach at St. Petersburg Municipal Beach

St. Petersburg Parks & Recreation Department's Aquatics Division presents Movie Night at the Beach featuring the movie "Deep." Admission is free and concessions are available for purchase. 7:00-10:00pm.


Sunday, November 24th


Family Yoga Class at Peace of Yoga

Kidding Around Yoga Classes with Desiree utilize yoga poses creatively tucked into partner yoga, games and activities, original music, stories and more. This yoga class is specifically designed for kids (2 and older), but moms, dads, grandparents, and other caregivers are welcome! Donations accepted. 10:00-11:00am.


Corey Avenue Sunday Market at St. Pete Beach

Find this market located on Corey Avenue in St. Pete Beach. This market hosts 70+ local vendors selling local and conventional produce, plants, herbs, raw honey, take-home foods, artisan products, fresh baked goods, lunch bites, local art, handcrafts, and more! Fun for all ages and dog-friendly. 10:00am-2:00pm.


CraftArt Festival at Florida CraftArt

BYOBaby and Flow at The Body Electric Yoga Co.

Calling all parentals: dedicate some time to yourself without having to call the babysitter. Join Abby Goodwin for BYOBaby and Flow: a session for folks and babes, with a mix of baby-wearing, baby-chilling, and yoga-flowing all in one. Class structure is loose, so you're free to get up and move around as needed. Appropriate for wearable babies, crawlers, and early walkers. Cost is $20. 11:00am-12:15pm.


Alligator Walk at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Learn about the American alligator, Florida’s state reptile, which calls our wetlands home on this all-ages guided walk. 11:30am.


Sundays at the Morean Center for Clay

Sundays @ The Morean is a free family drop-in Clay Play Session hosted by the Morean Center for Clay. Clay, tools and working tables provided, please bring your imagination. This session is open to all families with children (not recommended for children under 3 years old). 1:00-3:00pm.


Introduce the flute to your child with this FREE, fun, playful group class. Learn to hold the instrument, finger notes, and make a sound on colorful child-sized flutes. Classes include musical games and activities, singing, instrument play, creative movement, and beautiful classical music. (Ages 2-4). 2:00pm.


Family Fall Festival at Seminole Community Library

All ages are welcomed to join Seminole Community Library for a fun afternoon of crafts, games, and refreshments to celebrate fall and Thanksgiving! Registration is required. 2:00-3:30pm.
