St. Pete parents, this October weekend is PACKED with some of the biggest events of the year! Scroll our list below for all of the best family-friendly (and lots of free!) events happening around the Sunshine City. Click the links for more information.

Friday, October 18th


Open Gym at Bayside Sports Academy

Open Gym is open to children ages 6 & under every Friday. $8/child. 9:00-11:00am.

Terrific Tots at Great Explorations Children's Museum

On Wednesday and Friday mornings while Pinellas County Schools are in, before the museum opens to the public, members are invited to join Great Ex for songs, movement, art and story time in Great Beginnings at the museum! Terrific Tots is a unique bonding experience for children ages 1-3 and their caregivers. 9:30-10:00am.


Babytime at Gulfport Public Library

If you have little ones under 2 years old, please join Gulfport Public Library for Babytime. There will be songs, books, lap bounce rhymes, and the opportunity to meet other caregivers with infants and young toddlers. Older siblings are also welcome. 10:00-10:30am.


Toddler Early Literacy Program at St. Petersburg Main Library

Come join the main library for story time featuring movement, music and fun with rhymes, stories, and puppets! For children ages 1 - 3 with a caregiver. 10:15am & 11:00am.


Preschool Story Time at Gulf Beaches Public Library

Join Gulf Beaches Public Library for songs, stories, and crafts with a "Spiders and Bats" theme. 10:30am.


Free Story Time at The Littlest Trunk

Join The Littlest Trunk in their Community Room for "Story Time" with Angie Durkin, with UsBorne books and more! 1:00pm.


John's Pass Seafood and Music Fest at John's Pass Village

The 38th Annual John's Pass Seafood and Music Festival, presented by the City of Madeira Beach, features three days of seafood and entertainment with over 100 arts and craft vendors, brick & mortars, food trucks, live music, and more. Admission is free! 3:00-10:00pm.


S.T.R.E.A.M. Club at Childs Park Library

Explore Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math at Childs Park Library's S.T.R.E.A.M. Club. Join in for hands-on science experiments, coding, stories, and more!

For children grades 3 - 5. 4:15-5:00pm.


Join the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance for the 5th year celebrating vibrant mural art throughout St. Petersburg beginning Friday, Oct. 18 and ending Saturday, Oct. 26. Local, national, and international artists will be painting new walls for the outdoor gallery that is St. Pete. Come out and watch the artists work, each with their own unique style and process. Kid's Night Out at Romp N Roll

Treat your kids ages 2 to 5 and yourself to a fun night out! Parents get an evening to themselves while the children get to run, play, dance, and have fun with energetic instructors. A pizza party dinner and bubble dance party are included. Children do not need to be potty-trained. $25/member, $30/non-member (sibling discount available). 6:00-9:00pm.


Pink Costume Party FUNdraiser at St. Pete Side Lot

**Rescheduled to Wednesday, 10/30** Come join the fun with music, dancing, food, drinks, games, and so much more! Real Men Wear Pink of Pinellas with the American Cancer Society needs your support for breast cancer awareness and treatment. $25/Adult includes food and 1 drink ticket, and of course, the kids are FREE! 6:00-10:00pm.


Italian Food & Wine Festival at Albert Whitted Park

**Rescheduled to Friday, 11/22** Join Gulf to Bay Food Truck Association for food, fun, live music, and all the pasta, pizza, cannolis, and wine you can eat and drink! Free admission and pet- and kid-friendly. 6:00-11:00pm.


Sacred Heart Fall Festival at SacredHeart Parish

This popular annual event offers 5 days of food, games, beer and wine, entertainment on 3 stages, rides, and more! Free admission; tickets and armbands available for purchase. 6:00-11:00pm.


Parents Night Out/Friday Night Fun at Highland Recreation Complex

Kids will have a blast playing fun games throughout the facility including the gym, PlayWorld, and the game room. The snack shop will be open for purchases. Younger children are offered separate activities in the preschool room and must be potty trained. Cost: HC $70/$140 per season, Drop-in fee: $7/$14. 6:30-9:30pm.


**Rescheduled to Sunday, 10/27** Join St. Pete Beach Community Center each Friday in October for a night full of fun, food, and free live music! Dance the night away to some of your favorite local bands. 7:00-9:00pm.


Friday Night Shuffle at St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club

**Canceled** Friday nights are free and open to the public at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club! Bring your own food and beverages and enjoy the courts. 7:00-10:00pm.


"Legends of the Fall" at SPC Planetarium and Observatory

Each Friday in October, St. Petersburg College’s Planetarium and Observatory disguises itself as the “Haunted Planetarium.” Here, learn all about the Greek myth and lore playing out in the autumn skies, but watch out for ghosts, ghouls, zombies, and other creatures of the night. Parents, this one can get a little scary. The suggested minimum age is 7. 7:00pm & 8:15pm.


Fearstyle Friday at Willis S. Johns Recreation Center

Open to kids in grades 2-5, this St. Petersburg Parks & Recreation event features a haunted house, inflatables, dance room, arts & crafts, pizza, prizes, and more. Cost is $10. 7:00-10:30pm.


Saturday, October 19th


Weedon Walkabout at Weedon Island Preserve

Join in for a guided hike through the mangrove and upland ecosystems of Weedon Island Preserve. Learn about the coastal environment, native wildlife, and early history of the Preserve. This hike may be up to 2 miles (round trip). All ages are welcome but children younger than 6 years old may find this hike challenging. 9:00-11:00am.


Saturday Morning Market at Al Lang Stadium

**Limited Market Only** St. Petersburg's Saturday Morning Market is back for fall! This market is an extraordinary ode to great food, creative expression, and our wonderfully vibrant community. Come see what happens when you combine a Farmers Market, a Craft Fair, and a Festival into an amazing weekly gathering. 9:00am-2:00pm.


It's the Great Pumpkin Story Time at Practically Pikasso

Listen to this classic Halloween story then chose from an assortment of pumpkin-shaped pottery. Perfect for pint-size painters and their parents. Cost is $18 per painter when you register in advance or $20 per painter for walk-ins (if space is available). Suitable for painters of ALL AGES. 9:15-10:15am.


Mini & Me Yoga at The Studieaux

**Rescheduled to Saturday, 10/26** In conjunction with Clatsch.com & Sunshine City Kids, The Studieaux is pleased to offer monthly Mini & Me Yoga -- all mothers, fathers, guardians, and friends are welcomed and encouraged. Join in for a fun and spirited Merge AM Routine, intended to engage the babes and encourage a more balanced body for all! All ages. 9:30-10:30am.


Trick or Treat at Sky Zone

Sky Zone Clearwater is throwing a huge Halloween Party! Many characters will be dressed up in their Halloween costumes and giving out treats. Guests will trick or treat around the park, followed by jumping with the characters. Cost is $16 per child with free accompanying adults. 9:30-11:00am.


STEAMakers Open House at Shorecrest Preparatory School

STEAM isn’t just for the big kids! Join The Experiential School of Tampa Bay and the K-4th Grade Shorecrest Lower School for a morning of hands-on STEAM learning activities for toddlers through 4th graders. Kids can explore classrooms, engage in experiential curriculum, and excite their love of learning. 9:30-11:30am.


Saturdays at the Morean Arts Center

Saturdays @ the Morean is a free family drop-in art studio hosted by the Morean Arts Center. Art activities are geared toward children ages 5 to 10. 10:00am-12:30pm & 1:00-3:30pm.


**CANCELED** St. Petersburg Science Festival is a FREE community celebration of the wonders of hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). The 2019 public festival will be held at the waterfront campus of the USF St. Petersburg and Poynter Park along Bayboro Harbor. The event is held in conjunction with MarineQuest. 10:00am-4:00pm.


MarineQuest at FWC Fish and Wildlife Research Institute

**CANCELED** The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) will be celebrating a special milestone, the 25th anniversary of its annual open house, MarineQuest. During this award-winning event, the research headquarters are open to the public so visitors can learn about Florida’s interesting plants and animals, like sea turtles, manatees, mangroves, and much more! Inside the labs, scientists can guide you through interactive displays and answer questions about their research. Outside, explore touch tanks filled with Florida marine life, such as sharks, starfish, rays, horseshoe crabs, spiny lobster, and sport fish. 10:00am-4:00pm.


John's Pass Seafood and Music Fest at John's Pass Village

Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) is just what it sounds like—drag queens reading stories to children. DQSH captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models. In spaces like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where people can present as they wish. 11:00am-12:00pm.


Little Surrealists Tour at The Dali Museum

Kids ages 4-11 are invited to bring their families on a special 1-hour Museum tour. Free with museum admission. 11:00am-12:00pm.


Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Join Barnes & Noble for a storytime and activities featuring "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood: The Poetry of Mr. Rogers." 11:00am-12:00pm.


Children ages 4-11 can discover the creative world of Dali through games, puzzles and arts + crafts activities that educate and encourage family interaction. Cost is free. 12:00-2:30pm.


Library Legos at Largo Public Library

Challenge yourself to create a new LEGO masterpiece every week. All materials are provided. Ages 5 to 12. 2:00-4:00pm.


Howl-O-Fest at J.W. Cate Recreation Center

J.W. Cate Recreation Center is hosting the family fun at Howl-O-Fest! Here, enjoy prizes, games, inflatables, and more. Admission is $10/child. $7 presale tickets available until 10/18.


Creature Feature at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Live animal encounter! Learn interesting facts about a program animal featured at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve every Saturday and Sunday. 2:30pm.


Tinkergarten at Crescent Lake Park

In each session of this fall series, Tinkergarten Leader, Elise Pickett, will facilitate a different expert-designed play lesson, welcoming children of various ages and needs to explore, problem-solve, communicate, collaborate, and create together. Registration required. 5:00-6:15pm.


Haunted Hike at Euclid St. Paul's Neighborhood

Tour the creepy alleys and brick-lined streets of St Petersburg's most paranormal neighborhood. Euclid St. Paul’s 16th annual Haunted Hike includes skits and sideshows sure to enchant the whole family. The one-hour hike is $8 per adult and $4 per child. 6:00-9:00pm.


Free Pops in the Park at Vinoy Park

**CANCELED** Free music under the stars! Whether you come with a date or the whole family, the music is just right. The event features film scores, Broadway hits, and symphonic favorites. Bring plenty of canned goods for Tampa Bay Harvest. Art activities and food vendors available. 7:00-9:00pm.


Family Night Hike at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Join rangers for this popular guided hike where you and your family can explore the preserve after hours in a small group setting. Look for alligators, listen for bats, and search for scorpions. Cost is $5. 8:00pm.


Sunday, October 20th

Sing N' Stroll with Music & Me at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Join Music & Me for a family-friendly stroll through Boyd Hill Nature Preserve. Each stroll begins with 30 minutes of learning about various wildlife in a kid-friendly way from Tom McGrath, aka The Muffin Man, followed by songs led by Colleen McGrath Lilley. There will be two walks, 30 minutes each, beginning at 9:30 and 10:15. 9:30-11:00am.


Family Yoga Class at Peace of Yoga

Kidding Around Yoga Classes with Desiree utilize yoga poses creatively tucked into partner yoga, games and activities, original music, stories and more. This yoga class is specifically designed for kids (2 and older), but moms, dads, grandparents, and other caregivers are welcome! Donations accepted. 10:00-11:00am.


Corey Avenue Sunday Market at St. Pete Beach

Find this market located on Corey Avenue in St. Pete Beach. This market hosts 70+ local vendors selling local and conventional produce, plants, herbs, raw honey, take home foods, artisan products, fresh baked goods, lunch bites, local art, handcrafts and more! Fun for all ages and dog-friendly. 10:00am-2:00pm.


Baby & Me Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Baby & Me Storytime is for caregivers and children 0-24 months old. Join in to read a book and participate in activities featuring sensory growth for your little ones. Plus, get a free Starbucks tall, hot or iced coffee (Café stores only). 11:00am.


Get ready for Halloween with special Halloween-themed nails for you and your little bestie! Mess-free and instantly dry polish is perfect for everyone -- no heat, no tools, no dry time. Cost is $20 for both you and your child. This event will be by appointment, 30 minutes per duo. 11:00am-1:00pm.


Open Streets St. Pete at Albert Whitted Park

This free and car-free event closes the roads to cars for lots of music, food, and fun! Bike, walk, skate, dance, or hop through the streets around Albert Whitted Park and Bayshore Dr. while enjoying food trucks, activities, and more. 11:00am-4:00pm.


Sundays at the Morean Center for Clay

Sundays @ The Morean is a free family drop-in Clay Play Session hosted by the Morean Center for Clay. Clay, tools and working tables provided, please bring your imagination. This session is open to all families with children (not recommended for children under 3 years old). 1:00-3:00pm.


Chess Club at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library

Does your K-12 grader enjoy playing chess? Are they interested in learning the game? If so, join the library for Chess Club to learn the game or put their skills to the test! This program is run by teen volunteers. Registration required. Stop by or call Youth Services at 727-369-0664 to register. 1:30-2:30pm.


Creature Feature at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Live animal encounter! Learn interesting facts about a program animal featured at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve every Saturday and Sunday. 2:30pm.


Sunday Funday Movie at St. Petersburg Main Library

Head to the main library for a free showing of Aladdin (2019) this Sunday! 3:00-5:00pm.


Trick or Treat on Horseback at Saddle Up Riding Club

Trick or treat on horseback at Saddle Up Riding Club! Tickets are $10 for one lap on a costumed horse around the trail and should be purchased in advance. The event also features concessions, games, bounce houses, and lots of animals to feed and interact with. Admission is $2 and includes a free hayride to the event. 3:00-6:00pm.
