A list of kid-friendly events in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Fall and Halloween activities are in full swing in St. Pete, and the upcoming weekend is packed with fun events the whole family can enjoy. Find some local favorites including Howl-O-Fest, Marine Quest and St. Petersburg Science Festival in our list. Read on for the complete kid-friendly guide for October 19 to 21.

 


Friday, October 19th


Open Gym at Bayside Sports Academy

Open Gym is open to children ages 6 & under every Friday. $6/child. 9:00-11:00am.


Terrific Tots at Great Explorations Children's Museum

This members-only program is offered when school is in session for children ages 1-3 and a caregiver. Join the museum for songs and movement, story time, an art or craft exploration and community time for tots and their adults! 9:30-10:00am.


Toddler Early Literacy Program at St. Petersburg Main Library

Join the library for story time featuring movement, music and fun with rhymes, stories, and puppets! For children ages 1 - 3 with a caregiver. 10:15am and 11:00am.


Preschool Story Time at Gulf Beaches Public Library

Preschool-aged children can enjoy songs, stories and crafts with a cat theme! 10:30am.


Master Builder Afternoons at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library

Put your engineering skills to the test while building with Lego bricks, Keva planks and other fun materials. For children in grades K & up. 3:30-4:30pm.


Crafty Kids at Seminole Community Library

Whether it's crafts, science experiments, cooking, games, or stories, kids in grades K-5 always have fun and make new friends at Crafty Kids! Registration required. 4:00-5:00pm.


Reading Fun Storytime at Childs Park Community Library

Children in grades PreK-2 and their caregivers are invited for stories, music and fun! 4:15-5:00pm.


S.T.R.E.A.M. Club at Childs Park Community Library

Explore Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math with hands-on science experiments, coding, stories, and more! For children in grades 3-5. 4:15-5:00pm


This festival and carnival in Pinellas Park features rides by Arnold Amusements, games for all ages, food and drinks, and live entertainment. For ticket information, visit here. 6:00-11:00pm.


Howl-O-Fest at Boyd Hill's Environmental Studies Area

Howl-O-Fest features inflatable games, temporary tattoos, carnival games, arts & crafts, trick or treat cabins (bags provided), free candy, character meet and greets and entertainment. Admission is $5, other activities may require a small fee. 6:00-10:00pm.


"Hocus Pocus" Movie Night at St. Petersburg Municipal Beach

St. Petersburg Parks & Recreation's Aquatics Division is hosting a movie night at the beach featuring "Hocus Pocus". Enjoy fun in the sand with your friends and family at the St. Petersburg Municipal Treasure Island Beach. Admission is free, concessions available. 6:00-9:00pm.


Trunk-or-Treat at Shore Acres Elementary School

Kids can wear their costumes and Trunk-or-Treat from car to car at this Shore Acres PTA event. There will be an inflatable maze, basketball hoops, DJ, food, giant rock wall and pumpkin silent auction. Free and open to the community! 6:00-8:00pm.


Movies in the Park at Largo Central Park

Bring your blanket or chair out to Largo Central Park to enjoy "A Wrinkle in Time" on the lawn. Admission is free. 6:30-10:00pm.


St. Pete Shuffle at St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club

Friday nights are free and open to the public at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club! Bring your own food and beverages and enjoy the courts. 7:00-10:00pm.


"Legends of the Fall" at the SPC Planetarium & Observatory

Learn some of the stories playing out in the evening sky this fall at SPC Planetarium's Free Friday Shows. During October, the planetarium will be haunted by ghosts and other creatures of the night. Children must be at least 5 years old to attend (ages 7 & up recommended for the haunted planetarium). 7:00pm & 8:15pm.


 

Saturday, October 20th


Saturday Morning Market at Al Lang Stadium

This lively and huge outdoor market is open from October to May in the parking lot of Al Lang Stadium. Live music, a variety of vendors and a strong sense of community make this market the heart of St. Pete. 9:00am-2:00pm.


Cupcake Shoppe Workshop at Young Chefs Academy

Kids ages 5 & up can be the master of their very own Cupcake Shoppe as they learn design techniques and skills used to construct the most delicious concoctions that taste as great as they look! Cost is $35. 9:00-10:30am.


Circus McGurkis at Gibbs High School

A people’s fair celebrating peace, education, diversity and community activism. 10:00am-4:00pm.


MarineQuest at USF St. Petersburg

The 24th annual open house of the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute is a free, family-friendly event with indoor and outdoor stations, giving guests the opportunity to learn about Florida's fish and wildlife. 10:00am-4:00pm.


St. Petersburg Science Festival at USF St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg Science Festival is a free community celebration of the wonders of hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). 10:00am-4:00pm.


Saturdays @ the Morean is a free family drop-in art studio hosted by the Morean Arts Center. 10:00am-3:30pm.


Fall Expo at Azalea Recreation Center

Come meet instructors and learn about the many different classes offered at the center. There will be door prizes and free hot dogs. Admission is free and open to the public. 10:00am-1:00pm.


STEAMakers Open House at Shorecrest Preparatory School

Join The Experiential School of Tampa Bay and the K-4th Grade Shorecrest Lower School for a morning of hands-on STEAM learning activities for toddlers through 4th graders. 10:00am-1:00pm.


Halloween Bash at We Rock the Spectrum

Wear your costume and join We Rock the Spectrum for games, crafts, treats and fun. As always, friends of all abilities are welcome! Cost is $12 per child. 10:00am-12:00pm.


Bring your little ones and spend your Saturday creating some fun fall-inspired wood sculptures!  Choose from Mr. or Mrs. Frankenstein, a silly scarecrow, witch or create a sculpture of your own design. Cost is $30 per parent/child (ages 4 & up) couple. 10:00am-12:00pm.


Kidding Around Yoga at the Museum of Fine Arts

This yoga class is specifically designed for kids – families welcome.  Practicing yoga with everyone in the family, and especially children, creates a special bond. Ages 3 & up. $5 per person includes admission to the MFA Collections galleries. 10:00-11:00am.


Little Surrealists Tour at The Dali Museum

Kids ages 4-11 are invited to bring their families on a special 1-hour Museum tour. Free with museum admission. 10:15-11:15am.


Halloween Slime Craft at Growing Up

Make Halloween slime and enjoy the indoor playspace! Activity requires purchase of a day pass plus $3 for supplies; members receive a half-price discount. 10:30-11:30am.


Fix It Fest at Vision Ace Hardware

Come in to Ace Hardware for professional product demonstrations, kids crafts, and interactions with the police and fire departments. There will also be a yard sale out front. 11:00am-2:00pm.


Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Join Barnes & Noble for a storytime and activities featuring "Elbow Grease." 11:00am.


Make & Take Saturday at the Museum of Fine Arts

Kids ages 5 & up can create their own masterpiece inspired by works in the collection and special exhibitions. Free with museum admission. 11:00am-2:00pm.

Pumpkin Fest at Riviera UMC

There will be free fun for the whole family at Riviera UMC's annual Pumpkin Fest including a bounce house, petting zoo, face painting, emergency vehicles, bake sale, and lots of games! 4:00-6:00pm.


Fall Harvest Festival at St. Luke's UMC

St Luke's United Methodist Church and Central Oak Park Neighborhood Association are collaborating to bring you this year's Fall Harvest Festival. Tons of kid's crafts, face painting, indie market, music and MNM BBQ food truck. 5:00-7:00pm.

Haunted Hike at Euclid St. Paul's Neighborhood

Join St Pete’s Euclid/St. Paul’s neighborhood for its annual Haunted Hike! This family-friendly event is a 1-mile, 1-hour walking tour through creepy alleys and brick-lined streets. Costumed characters will entertain with spooky stories and skits. $6/adult, $2/child. 6:30-8:30pm.


Beetlejuice on the Beach at Archibald Memorial Beach Park

Join Madeira Beach Recreation for a Saturday night showing of "Beetlejuice" on the beach! Movie will begin at sunset. 7:00-10:00pm.


Pops in the Park at Vinoy Park

Grab a picnic basket and enjoy a free concert under the stars with a program of pop tunes, film scores, Broadway hits and more by The Florida Orchestra. Fireworks finale! 7:00-9:00pm.


Night Hike at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Join rangers for Boyd Hill's most popular guided hike! Explore the preserve after hours in a small group setting while looking for alligators, bats and scorpions. $5/adult, $3/child. 7:00pm.

 

Sunday, October 21


Aviary Tour at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Get a behind the scenes look at the American Kestrel. See how the Birds of Prey program operates and have an up close encounter with the bird of the month. $3/adult, $1.50/child. 10:00am.


Family Yoga Class at Peace of Yoga

Kidding Around Yoga Classes with Desiree utilize yoga poses creatively tucked into partner yoga, games and activities, original music, stories and more. This yoga class is specifically designed for kids ages 2 & up. Donations accepted. 11:30am-12:30pm.

Sundays at the Morean Center for Clay

Sundays @ The Morean is a free family drop-in clay play session hosted by the Morean Center for Clay. Clay, tools and working tables provided, please bring your imagination. This session is open to all families with children ages 3 & up. 1:00-3:00pm.


Mother Son Monster Mash at Practically Pikasso

Join Practically Pikasso in your costumes for a frightfully good time. Mom (or dad!) can paint a salad plate while kids can pick from assorted monster pottery. Snacks included. $30 per couple. 2:30-4:30pm.


Kids Running Class at North Shore Park

St. Pete Run Fest has partnered with St. Pete Running Company to get your little one’s running stride dialed in. This will be a fun, action packed free class that teaches little ones an appreciation and life long love of running. Best for ages 5-10. 3:00-4:00pm.
